AR^TMENT <br />COPCAB Minutes <br />March 10, 2022 <br />6:30pm — 8:OOpm <br />Virtual Meeting Via Microsoft Teams <br />Click .....here ....to...join .....the .............tl...[1 g. <br />Or call 253-292-9750 <br />Conference ID: 756 658 204# <br />Members present: Jan Bolerjack, John Lindsey, Katrina Dohn, Jay Stark <br />Staff present: Chief Eric Dreyer, Deputy Chief Eric Lund <br />Guest: None <br />Approval of minutes: 2/10/22 meeting minutes approved. <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />Eric Dreyer, Chief of Police <br />Chief's Update: <br />• Retirements and incoming still leave us five down in personnel <br />• Addressing challenges with trucks and traffic in Allentown with recent emphasis patrols <br />• Major Crimes Unit is having to pare down investigations without specific suspects <br />• Increase in local shootings - not random <br />o Comment from Katrina affirming the content and rapidity of info out to the community via <br />Facebook (Vic Masters) <br />• Hoping to begin using Flock Safety which will have mounted cameras around the city to track vehicles <br />involved in criminal activity. Ready to set up a trial run. <br />• All local jurisdictions are short-staffed <br />• Entry level boards done today. <br />• Sergeant exams done — 7 passed. 2-3 openings to fill <br />• Beginning to build 2023-2024 Budget. City Council will give priorities for TPD to budget for. <br />COPCAB might need to do some advocating for the budget needs to reach full staffing. <br />• Several upcoming recruitment fairs to be attended <br />• One shortcoming of TPD— compared to other jurisdictions - is lack of take-home cars for all officers <br />• Question re: Confluence and Shag calls. Shag has settled down. Confluence calls continue to be high. <br />• Question re: homeless encampments and legal/property issues <br />Word on the Street: <br />• Jay thanks city for putting Tukwila Works back in action <br />• Katrina raises concerns of grab and go crimes happening right in front of other shoppers. New <br />reforms may be coming from legislature. <br />• Katrina asks — what else can COPCAB do.
