City of Tukwila <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Planning and Community Development Committee <br />FROM: Derek Speck, Economic Development Administrator <br />DATE: October 10, 2022 <br />SUBJECT: Economic Development Plan Council Early Input <br />ISSUE <br />As part of our task to create an Economic Development Plan for the City, staff would like to know if <br />the Council would like specific questions or options considered as the Plan is created. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In June the City Council authorized the Mayor to execute a contract with Community Attributes, Inc. <br />(CAI) to create an Economic Development Plan. In August the Council expressed support for the <br />community engagement plan. Staff and CAI have begun community engagement and will continue <br />that over the next few months. <br />DISCUSSION <br />As CAI and staff continue engagement, conduct research, and draft a proposed Plan, we would like to <br />know if there are any specific questions or options the Council would like considered or addressed in <br />the Plan. <br />There will be additional opportunities for Council to provide input on the Plan. Staff and CAI intend to <br />return to Council for consensus on the Plan's vision and overarching goals in November. We intend <br />to return to Council in January with the proposed strategies and draft Plan and then in February for <br />adoption. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />Not applicable. <br />RECOM MENDATION <br />For discussion.
