City of Tukwila <br />City Council Planning & Community Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 17, 2023 - 5:30 p.m. - Hybrid Meeting; Hazelnut Conference Room & MS Teams <br />Councilmembers Present: Kathy Hougardy, Chair; De'Sean Quinn, Thomas McLeod <br />Staff Present: Rachel Bianchi, Nora Gierloff, Jerry Hight, Derek Speck, Brandon Miles <br />Guest: Jon Napier, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority <br />Chair Hougardy called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />BUSINESS AGENDA <br />A. Ordinance: 2021 State Building Code Adoption <br />Staff is seeking Council approval of an ordinance to adopt the 2021 State Building Codes <br />effective July 1, 2023. <br />Item(s) for follow-up: <br />Provide King County Area Median household income (AMI). <br />Committee Recommendation <br />Unanimous approval. Forward to May 1, 2023 Regular Consent Agenda. <br />B. Ordinance: Fire Code Amendments <br />The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority is seeking Council approval of an ordinance that <br />would amend Tukwila Municipal Code Chapter 16.16 to address changes to Washington <br />Administrative Code Chapter 51-54A, provide better readability, align with regional <br />development standards, and support PSRFA operations. <br />Committee Recommendation <br />Unanimous approval. Forward to April 24, 2023 Committee of the Whole. <br />C. Multi -Family Tax Exemption Program <br />Staff presented an overview of policy considerations relating to renewing and/or expanding <br />the MFTE program. <br />Item(s) for follow-up: <br />Consider incorporating areas of the Tukwila Urban Center in addition to Tukwila South. <br />Committee Recommendation <br />Unanimous agreement for staff to develop code amendment to implement MFTE program for <br />Tukwila South. Return to Committee. <br />
