The purpose of this chapter <br />in the Plan is to set the stage for the reason the City has a Plan, the regulations that guide that <br />plan, and a general summary of how the plan has been developed. This includes discussion and <br />outcomes from past community efforts to establish the City's Vision, as well as the emphasis of <br />this Plan's policy focus. <br />UPDATES IN LAND USE REQUIREMENTS <br />Tukwila's Comprehensive Plan Update will be reviewed at the State, Regional, and County levels <br />to ensure that it complies with all requirements of these three bodies before being voted on for <br />adoption by the City Council. Each review body has required components and policy language <br />that must be included in the update to be approved by the reviewing body. Staff has been <br />working to integrate new requirements into Planning Commission presentations and the <br />Element updates to ensure compliance. <br />The 2015 update of the Tukwila Comprehensive Plan did not contain a Land Use Element, <br />although policies relating to land use were scattered in various elements of the Plan. The Land <br />Use element is a required element for certification of the comprehensive plan. To create this <br />element, staff has compiled land use related policies present various elements of the 2015 <br />Tukwila Comprehensive Plan, and added new requirements from reviewing regional and state <br />bodies. <br />Proposed policies adhering to State, regional or county policy requirements, or include in the <br />2015 update of Tukwila's Comprehensive Plan are identified in the footnotes. <br />Tukwila City Hall • 6200 5outhcenter Boulevard • Tukwila, WA 98188 • 206-4,.-1800 Website.: TukwilaWA.gov <br />5 <br />
