<br />City of Tukwila <br />ThomasMcLeod, Mayor <br />INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM <br />TO:Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee <br />FROM:Nora Gierloff, DCD <br />BY:Alison Turner, Sustainable Transportation Program Manager <br />CC:Mayor McLeod <br />DATE:March 15, 2024 <br />SUBJECT:PSRC Grant Application South King County TDM <br />ISSUE <br />The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Program is asking for approval to apply for <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2020, the TDM Program was awardedClimate Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) fundingfor <br />a successful application. That project is currently being implemented starting in 2023. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Approximately every two years, Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) funds are made <br />available through a competitive grant selection process. Successful grants will be awarded in <br />January 2025 and funds are generally available startingOctober 2026.A match of 13.5% is <br />required for the federal funds, which can be provided using other non-federal grants.The scope <br />of the proposed $550,000 CMAQ project is to provideregionalTDM programming and services <br />to help people access sustainable transportation options that reduce traffic congestionand <br />improve air qualityin Tukwila and South King County. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />There will be no impact to the general fund. A match of $85,838 <br />Commute Trip Reduction grant funding, plus any local in-kind funding secured from partnering <br />agencies should there be any. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Committee decision to apply for thegrant. <br />1 <br />
