<br /> <br />City of Tukwila <br />ThomasMcLeod, Mayor <br />INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM <br />TO:Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee <br /> <br />FROM: Nora Gierloff, DCD <br /> <br />BY: Alison Turner, Sustainable Transportation Program Manager <br /> <br />CC: Mayor McLeod <br /> <br />DATE: March 15, 2024 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: WSDOT Regional Mobility Grant Application <br /> <br />ISSUE <br />The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Program is asking for approval to apply for a <br />WSDOT Regional Mobility Grant. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In recent years the TDM Program has been awarded funding from Regional Mobility Grant <br />twice. The Program is currently administering a 4-year grant with a grant period from July 2021 <br />to June 2025. A new funding award will enable the TDM Program to continue providing regional <br />TDM services in Tukwila and South King County. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br />The scope of the proposed 4-year (July 2025 to June 2029) $832,000 project is to provide TDM <br />programming and services to employers, residents, and workers in Tukwila and South King <br />County to reduce drive-alone travel and traffic congestion. The project will use TDM strategies <br />to increase the use of transit, carpooling, active transportation, telework, and new mobility <br />services. Strategies include outreach, education, and incentives such as ORCA cards and <br />safety gear to encourage sustainable transportation choices. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />There will be no impact to the general fund. A match of $208,000 (20% of the project budget) <br />will be provided by the City’s Commute Trip Reduction grant funding, plus any local in-kind <br />funding secured from partnering agencies should there be any. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Committee decision to apply for the grant. <br />
