City of Tukwi <br />City Council Community Services & Safety Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 14, 2025- 5:30 p.m. - Hybrid Meeting; Hazelnut Conference Room & MS Teams <br />Councilmembers Present: Dennis Martinez, Chair; Armen Papyan <br />Staff Present: Pete Mayer, David Rosen, Kris Kelly, Eric Lund, Eric Drever, Jefri Peters, Matthew Austin <br />Chair Martinez called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />I. BUSINESS AGENDA <br />A. Contract: Hazelnut Park Climbing Boulder <br />This item is being postponed pending further Park Commission review. Chair Martinez <br />referenced the public comment letter from the Historical Society in opposition to the <br />structure. <br />B. Contract: Tukwila Community Center Riverside Campus Sun Shade <br />Staff is seeking approval of a contract with Northwest Playground Equipment Inc. for <br />installation of multiple sunshade structures at the Tukwila Community Center Splash Pad in <br />the amount of $154,319.67. <br />Item(s) for follow-up: <br />• Include information about sunshade longevity/lifespan <br />• Explore feasibility and cost of postponing construction until 2025 <br />Committee Recommendation: <br />Majority approval. Forward to July 21, 2025 Regular Consent Agenda <br />C. Police Department 2nd Quarter Report <br />Staff presented the report. <br />Committee Recommendation: <br />Discussion only. <br />D. Parks and Recreation Mid -Year Report <br />Staff presented the report. <br />Item(s) for follow-up: <br />• Provide the weekly numbers of senior adults participating in trips, tours and social events <br />pre -Coved. <br />• Provide number of "survival rings" deployed for ivy removal around trees in parks <br />• Provide information on Tukwila's proportionate share of King County Parks Levy <br />Committee Recommendation: <br />Discussion only. <br />II.
