Public gathering places and other publicly accessible areas should be detailed with decorative, <br />pedestrian scaled site furnishings and equipment such as seating, freestanding planters, <br />ornamental solid waste and recycling receptacles, bike racks, drinking fountains, pergolas, <br />trellises, heaters, umbrellas, wind screening, and decorative bollards am r zrx .n.12— -j� in <br />Nrdrstrian spars. <br />h. Components of site furnishings should be made of durable high quality materials such as <br />painted fabricated steel, painted cast iron, painted cast aluminum, and integrally colored <br />precast concrete. Recycled materials should be used so long as the finish or look of the <br />material is consistent with or similar to the finishes prescribed above. Metal surfaces should be <br />coated with highly durable finishes such as aliphatic polyurethane enamel. <br />i. Landscape structures and sculptural objects in pedestrian spaces should reference the human <br />scale in their overall massing and detailing. <br />F. Common Open Space for Residential Uses <br />1. Common Open Spaces are privately owned and maintained interior common spaces, such as pools <br />or exercise rooms, and /or outdoor landscaped spaces, such as rooftop decks, ground level open <br />spaces, children's play areas, or other multipurpose green spaces associated with multi family <br />developments that provide for the recreational needs of the residents of the development and are <br />not publicly accessible. <br />2. Common Open Space Design Requirements <br />a. Required building setback areas shall not be counted towards Common Open Space. <br />b. No more than 50 percent of the required common space may be indoor or covered space. <br />c. Common open spaces shall be easily visible and readily accessible to multifamily residents. <br />d.
