John Richards Building Official City Hall Tukwila, Washington Dear . John: After our telephone coversation with mr. Shaughnessy of this date., he has explained to me in detail of what he is propos ing on the Cello Bag job. There will be no occupancy to this section, but is intended as .service to ,the building, only to house the tower's that are,used for storage and dispensing of the vinyl film. These structures will therefore, be classed as part of the roof. Loading has been taken into consideration, and ,a sprinkler head will be installed at the top of each tower. The ladders are intended strictly for service for the placement of or restocking of the cellulous film. With this information now being obtained, I would concur, the permit should be issued. It appears that this area is being built on the existing roof structure which could be imposing a load greater than that for which the roof was designed, and the plans do indicate that the intended structure does not rest on a bearing section. This plan does not indicate the existing structure by type or use, and I would recommend that a permit only be issued after consults Lion between the designers, owners, building department, and its' representatives. It appears to me that various sheets have been drawn by different .Parsons, and that sheets #3, 4, & 5 were not drawn by the structural engineering firm of Harter and .Rupert who are the engineers of record. There is nothing within this plan that would indicate its intended use, occupancy or hazard. These items must be confirmed, and other related matters discussed for conformation to the building code requirements prior to a permit being issued. Very truly yours, .
