In many cases, I am recommending reappointment of existing Board and Commission members. I am also recommending appointment of one new Parks Commissioner, and two new Planning Commissioners: DISCUSSION Several vacancies still exist, and groups are working with the Volunteer Coordinator and other staff to encourage interested residents to apply for these positions. Arts Comission Position 1. The term of Brian Kennedy expired December 31, 2010 and I am recommending that he be reappointed. His new term will expire December 31, 2014. Communitv Police Advisory Board Position #3: The term of Arthur Rosengren expired on March 31, 2011 and I am recommending that he be reappointed. His new term will expire March 31, 2015. Planning Commission There are two vacancies on the Planning Commission /Board of Architectural Review: Position 3: 1 am pleased to forward you the application of Mikel Hansen. Mr. Hansen has been a presence in our business community for 16 years with both retail, development and construction experience. He has a strong record of public service including involvement with the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, Sign Code Committee, School Levy Committee, Tukwila Food Pantry Board, and the Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce as past president. His term will expire March 31, 2015. l have attached a copy of his application for your review. Position 7 1 am also enthusiastic about my appointment for Position 7, Aaron Hundtofte. Mr. Hundtofte is both a Tukwila resident and businesss owner and is currently developing a mixed use project on East Marginal',Vay South. 5 INFORMATIONAL MEMO Page 2 His past volunteer efforts have been in the areas of native plant restoration with the King County Conservation District, environmentally sensitive development with the Master Builder's Association Built Green program, and with the Department of Corrections Canine Connections Program. He has also worked with King County Housing Authority and Seattle Housing Authority. His term will expire March 31, 2015. 1 have attached a copy of his application for your review. Position #4: The term of Thomas McLeod expired March 31, 2011. 1 am recommending that he be reappointed. His new term will expire March 31, 2015. Position #6. The term of Brook Alford expired March 31, 2011 and I am recommending that she be reappointed. Her new term will expire March 31, 2015. Sister Cities Commission Position #1: The term of Sharon Baker Myklebust expired on December 31, 2010. 1 am recommending that she be reappointed. Her new term will expire December 31, 2014. Position #2: The term of Audrey Davis expired on December 31, 2010. 1 am recommending that she be reappointed. Her new term will expire on December 31, 2014. Library Advisory Board Position 1. The term of Sharon Kidd expired December 31, 2010 and I am recommending that she be reappointed. Her new term will expire December 31, 2012. Position 2 The term of Steve Miller expired December 31, 2010 and I am recommending that he be reappointed. His new term will expire December 31, 2012. Parks Commission Position 3. The term of Joanne McManus expired March 31, 2011 and I am recommending that she be reappointed. Her new term will expire March 31, 2014. Position 5 1 am seeking your support to appoint Donald Scanlon to the Tukwila Parks Commission. Mr. Scanlon has been a Tukwila resident for 30 years and has many interests that will compliment the Parks Commission.
