H.P. compressors and R -22 or R -502 refrigerants Hussmnnfl RICA Series$4ost Popular Hussmann Conventional Units HICA series. Indoor air - cooled condensing units. These com- plete compressor /condenser/ receiver units are our most popular conventional option. They provide easy indoor service access which is especially convenient in severe weather conditions. HICA Hussmetics are Hussmann conventional indoor condensing units. They are air- cooled and built on a modular design allowing the user to specify compressor, condenser, receiver, control panel and accessories on a single open framework. Units can be used for high, medium or low temperature applica- tions with either R -22 or R -502 refrigerants. Compressors range from .5 to 30 H.P. Wide Variety of Compressors Hussmann HICA Units are available with a broad assortment of compressor types to provide maximum flexibility in matching units to specific applications. Compressors include: Copeland Reed, Copeland Discus, Carlyle, Copeland Discus with Demand Cooling and Copeland Hermetics. Customized Control Panels Customer may specify the type of circuit breaker and contactor to be used. Circuit breakers standard. Individual case protection available. Condenser Reliability Condensers are constructed of copper tubes with a maximum of eight aluminum fins per inch. This helps prevent per- formance loss which can result from condenser clogging. Even the most stringent temperature difference requirements can be met by selecting a properly sized condenser. Receivers Sized for Your Needs High capacity receivers are standard. Oversized receivers may be specified to allow for winter controls or long piping runs to evaporator. Easy Servicing All components positioned for easy access, service and replacement... including compressors, fan motors, filters and controls. Reliable Performance Complete electrical and leak detection testing is performed at the factory prior to shipment. All units UL approved. To help avoid leaks, flex braided or thermo- plastic hose is used instead of capillary tubing on pressure controls. Discharge line vibration eliminators are standard on all units. / HICA Two -TAE moil TWO TIER FRAME Control Panels — Wide selection available. Circuit breakers standard. User may specify circuit breaker and contactor type. Excellent Service Access — Positioning allows easy access to serviceable components, such as compressors, fan motors and accessories. See Table for Condenser Heigt 53 in. all HICA two -tier units 1 (We reserve the right to change or revise connection with any feature of our produc buyer to corresponding changes, improve equipment previously sold or shipped.) Stacked Units Save Space and Money Two -tier frames allow efficient use of valuable floor space and reduce the cost of electrical hookups when interconnection kits are used. Demand Cooling with R -22 Refrigerant Now available on HICA units with Copeland Discus Compressors. Demand cooling allows the use of environ- mentally responsible R -22 refrigerant in low temperature applications. With demand cooling, saturated refrigerant is used to cool the compressor as required. Because R -22 has a small impact on the environ- ment when compared to other commonly used refrigerants, it has been less affected by government regulations and should be generally available into the 21st century. Energy efficiency of demand cooling is similar to that of traditional R -502 low temp cooling, and R -22 is a lower cost refrigerant. Semi - Hermetic Compressors Copeland Reed or Discus and Carlyle. Highly popular "workhorse" compressors, they offer larger bearings and excellent reliability. They can also be serviced easily. Hermetic Compressors Specifically designed for high temp meat and produce prep- aration rooms. Hermetic units are smaller, lighter and require less base area for mounting. Conventional Unit Gas Defrost • Lower installed cost versus electrical defrost • Shorter defrost • Less product shock • Energy savings EPC -100 • Compressor and unloader control • Condenser fan control • Defrost initiation (time, temperature, pressure terminated) • Suction pressure reset (optional) • Alarm Log • Communications (compatible with all EPC - family) • Real time clock with battery back -up • Hueristic control algorithm Optional Accessories Heat Reclaim -Saves energy by providing heat to the back room, sales area or hot water system. Suction Line Vibration Eliminator -Helps prevent line damage which might result from compressor vibration. Suction Line Filter -Brass or steel body filters help prolong compressor life. Suction Line Accumulator - Helps prevent liquid slugging and resultant compressor damage. T Hussmetic I = Indoor 0 = Outdoor CA = Air Cooled Condensing Unit CW = Water Cooled Condensing Unit RU = Remote Unit Product Code H x x x_ x x x x_ x x Compressor Base Number (See Specification Tables For Base Numbers and Compressor Models.) Crankcase Heater - Protects against refrigerant migration caused by compressor exposure to ambient temperatures colder than the evaporator during off cycles. Ball Bearing Condenser Fan Motors -Do not require periodic lubrication. Fan Cycling Pressure Control - Cycles condenser fans to maintain correct condensing pressure. Current Sensing Relay- Prevents the oil failure control from tripping if the motor cycles off on overload protection. Drier /Sightglass - Filter -drier and liquid and moisture indicator help maintain a clean system. Remov- able core drier is also available.
