They can be classified under one of two main categories; gilm_agaliag or Ngn_Eilm. @gating. This two category approach reflects the fact that only one of the 129 priority pollutants, namely "silver and compounds" one found in measurable amounts in Kits Ultraprint labs waste stream. The only other chemical that will be in use that is on the list of pollutants is toluidine, but it is used in a compounded form, (B- methanesulphonimidoethyl - ethyl - amino toluidine sesquisulfate) which basicazlly forms a carbon "ring" around the chemical compound used universally in C -41 (film) color developer locally and worldwide. Treatment of Ngn_gilyeL712Aling_gugga2 cbe miaal_nata_gagAma Since no silver is present in these chemicals, they are discharged to a sewer hub immediately from the "Process Machinery ". A complete list of these chemicals and their average daily totals are included in this application (Exhibit 1, Section B -2). naatmant gi ails= Blaxiag EL2Q1k2 Qb2Mig1la All silver bearing chemicals are collected immediately downstream from the process machinery in an area labeled "Recovery of Silver- Bearing Process Chemicals" on the schematic flow diagram. Here they are cycled through a large electrolytic cell, passing between sets of carbon anodes and a stainless steel cathode where a high amperage direct current field has been established. The silver ion plates onto the cathode. When the silver reaches a sufficiently low level, ( 200mg.ag +(liter), the chemistry is pumped into another collection tank. From this tank the effluent is pumped through a series of cationic exchange resin columns. Ag+ is attached to the resin, and a matching resident ion is released from the resin into the stream being treated and is carried on through the bed and out of the column. It then enters the sewer after it joins the Non Silver Bearing Process Chemicals and the Waste Water (See Section D -4). EXHIBIT III, Section D -4 Film and paper drag out from the silver bearing chemical processing tanks results in low level contamination (100 -200 mg ag +(liter) of the wash water step which follows. The silver bearing wash water from all process machinery is collected at one location, is pumped through a heat exchange system and finally through a series of cationic exchange resin columns (See section C -3). From the columns it is combined with the Non - Silver Bearing and Silver Bearing Process Chemicals and sewered. They can be classified under one of two main categories; Ei.lmer_Bsatiag or I34.n_ailmar gmEing. EXHIBIT III, Section D -4 Treatment of Non lilnr_1/2axina_a2aaaa chgmigal_natI_Ztr €dma Since no silver is present in these chemicals, they are discharged to a sewer hub immediately from the "Process Machinery ". A complete list of these chemicals and their average daily totals are included in this application (Exhibit 1, Section B -2). ILtAtmant_ 4f_ gilYer _D2Atius_2rsagaz_chamiaaLa All silver bearing chemicals are collected immediately downstream from the process machinery in an area labeled "Recovery of Silver - Bearing Process Chemicals" on the schematic flow diagram. Film and paper drag out from the silver bearing chemical processing tanks results in low level contamination (100 -200 mg ag +(liter) of the wash water step which follows. The silver bearing wash water from all process machinery is collected at one location, is pumped through a heat exchange system and finally through a series of cationic exchange resin columns (See section C -3). From the columns it is combined with the Non - Silver Bearing and Silver Bearing Process Chemicals and sewered. I was told specifically to that my review responsibilities was limited to this scope of work at the DRC. Upon receiving clearances from Metro and staff review, Public Works cleared the use of the sewer for a photo lab use over a month ago. The Building Permit was issued through the Planning Department. No site plans were received nor requested by Public Works, due to this prior determination of the Planning Dept. as to the scope of Public Works review responsibilities. Per the letter of Setember 18, 1985, by Kits CAMERA representative, Mr. John J. Kinkella, the owner became aware of the need for a sidewalk through city officials inspecting the project on September 6th. The owner has provided expense into the project for landscaping according to his letter and is asking the City for relief of the sidewalk obligation at this time until projected sidewalk plans . are carried out for the construction of sidewalks in the future. cc.
