HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1207 - Comprehensive Plan Citizen Steering Committee (Repealed by Res 1214) ILA 190$ CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 1207 Repealed by Res 1214 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING A CITIZEN'S STEERING COMMITTEE FOR UPDATING THE TUKWILA COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. WHEREAS, a community's Comprehensive Plan establishes goals for land use decisions such as where and how growth should occur and be served in the community; and WHEREAS, public involvement in the development of the Plan is essential to a plan representative of the people and the interests of its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City's mission statement embodies a spirit of partnership with the community and Section 14 of the Growth Management Act requires early, meaningful and continuous public participation; and WHEREAS, the City Council and the Mayor have determined that public participation must be integrated into the formulation of the Comprehensive Plan; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: A fifteen member Comprehensive Plan Citizen Steering Committee is formed to review, discuss and propose policies and standards on the following seven elements: Land Use, Transportation, Housing, Utilities, Shoreline, Economic Development and Capital Financing based upon guidelines provided by the City Council. The Committee is charged with recommending a draft plan to the Planning Commission. The Mayor shall appoint, and the City Council concur, with a Committee composed of three voting members from each of the five Vision Tukwila neighborhoods. Its members shall represent a variety of interests and backgrounds to be representative of the community as a whole and at least ten of its members shall reside in the City and represent the residential neighborhood. The Committee's meetings shall be open and allow for public comment. The Committee will decide on its operating rules of procedure. Additional public involvment techniques, in order to gain a greater understanding of the vision of the complete community, may be authorized by the City Council. If the Committee loses members during the process, the Mayor shall appoint and the Council concur, on a replacement from the appropriate neighborhood.
