HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes 1215 - IAC for Outdoor Recreation Grant Application - Christensen Greenbelt Trail doe- w 1905 CITY OF TUKWILA WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 1215 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING APPLICATIONS) FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE WASHINGTON WILDLIFE RECREATION PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila, in the process of approving a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which identifies the Christensen Greenbelt Trail; and WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Washington Wildlife Recreation Program, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and habitat conservation areas and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tukwila considers it in the best public interest to develop the Christensen Greenbelt Trail along the Green River; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 1. The mayor is authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for funding assistance. 2. Any fund assistance so received shall be used for the development of the Christensen Greenbelt Trail in Tukwila, Washington. 3. The city's share of the project will be derived from Land Acquisition; Recreation and Park Development Budget. 4. The City of Tukwila does hereby certify that the City is responsible to support all non -cash commitments to the local share should they not materialize. 5. Any property developed with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal agency. 6. This resolution shall become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. 7. Adequate notification shall be en and the opportunity provided for public input, and published notices e i dentified affected flood plains and /or wetlands, if applicable. 8. The site plan has been adopted by the local governing body. 9. The City of Tukwila does certify that the City is owner of the land to be developed and based on current knowledge, provides assurance there are no encumbrances on the land which would restrict the recreational use of the land as proposed in this application.
