RESOLUTION NO. 1221 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF
A REGION -WIDE 800 MHZ EMERGENCY RADIO
COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, current radio systems utilized by the more then 25 Police, Fire, and Aid services
in King County differ in age, quality, radio frequency, configuration, and capability; and
WHEREAS, multi agency emergencies currently occur with some frequency and a region
wide disaster is inevitable; and
WHEREAS, much of our current communication system will in all probability fail in the
event of a major earthquake; and
WHEREAS, in order to maintain regional communication after a major disaster, in order to
facilitate a region wide communication rescue plan, in order to achieve efficiency in the use of limited
radio frequencies, it has become necessary to adopt a region wide communication network for all
emergency services; and
WHEREAS, a coordinated region wide 800 MHZ (frequency) Emergency Radio system
supported by all communities will facilitate the needs of all Police, Fire, and Medical Aid throughout
King County in the event of disaster; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Tukwila will have an opportunity to support a general three year
tax levy on September 15, 1992 for not more then $25 per year for a $155,000 home; and
WHEREAS, the passage of this levy will provide Tukwila Police, Fire, Aid with new radios
and access to the entire emergency service community in King County;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE TO ENDORSE THE REGIONAL
EMERGENCY RADIO COMMUNICATION PLAN, AND URGES ITS CITIZENS TO DO SO
AS WELL.
PASSED BY THE CITY CQUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, at a
regular meeting thereof this 8 day of .1992.
