The factor is increased for non -steel Design Strengths except Pullout Strength and Pryout strength. Condition B applies when supplementary reinforcement is not used and for Pullout Strength and Pryout Strength. Refer to ACI 318, Part D.4.4(c). • Design Strengths of adhesive anchor systems are influenced by the cleaning method. Refer to the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE given in the Evaluation Service Report for cleaning and installation instructions The present version of the software does not account for adhesive anchor special design provisions corresponding to overhead applications. Refer to the ICC -ES Evaluation Service Report (e.g. section 4.1.1 of the ICC -ESR 2322) for details. • Checking the transfer of loads into the base material and the shear resistance are required in accordance with ACI318 or the relevant standard! • An anchor design approach for structures assigned to Seismic Design Category C, D, E or F is given in ACI 318-08 Appendix D. Part 0.3.3.4 this requires the governing design strength of an anchor or group of anchors be limited by ductile steel failure. If this is NOT the case, Part D.3.3.5 requires that the attachment that the anchor is connecting to the structure shall be designed so that the attachment will undergo ductile yielding at a load level corresponding to anchor forces no greater than the controlling design strength. In lieu of D.3.3.4 and D.3.3.5, the minimum design strength of the anchors shall be multiplied by a reduction factor per D.3.3.6, An alternative anchor design approach to ACI 318-08, Part D.3.3 is given in IBC 2009, Section 1908.1.9. This approach contains "Exceptions" that may be applied in lieu of D.3.3 for applications involving "non-structural components" as defined in ASCE 7, Section 13.4.2. An alternative anchor design approach to ACI 318-08, Part D.3.3 is given in IBC 2009, Section 1908.1.9. This approach contains "Exceptions" that may be applied in lieu of D.3.3 for applications involving "wall out -of -plane forces" as defined in ASCE 7, Equation 12.11-1 or Equation 12.14-10. It is the responsibility of the user when inputting values for brittle reduction factors ((knonduct, ) different than those noted in ACI 318-08, Part D.3.3.6 to determine if they are consistent with the design provisions of ACI 318-08, ASCE 7 and the governing building code. Selection of Ononductile = 1.0 as a means of satisfying ACI 318-08, Part D.3.3.5 assumes the user has designed the attachment that the anchor is connecting to undergo ductile yielding at a force level <= the design strengths calculated per ACI 318-08, Part D.3.3.3. Reasons for this finding: The Council finds that the rule causes potential economic hardship on building owners. The economic and energy model used to establish the initial cost benefit analysis and savings potential did not take into account the types and population of cold storage facilities and systems typically used in Washington State. As the Council does not have sufficient data related to the mechanical systems in cold storage facilities, it is felt more detailed analysis is necessary. SEQUENCE OF OPERATION 9-101 BUILDING REFRIGERATION 1. WIP Freezer The WIP freezer has 4 evaporator units located within, and is on a separate (dedicated) suction level. The suction lines from these evaporators are connected together and run to a common suction accumulator. There are four semi—hermetic reciprocating compressors connected to this accumulator. During normal storage conditions, these compressors operate at approximately 12 psig suction and 180-255 psig discharge pressure (depending on ambient weather conditions). This is designed to maintain a —15'F freezer space. Typically, one or two compressors and two evaporators will be functioning at a time. In anticipation of a door opening event, the operator will temporarily lower the room setpoint to —30'F. This will bring on the standby compressors and evaporators. When room temperature is at —25'F or lower, the Targe door can be opened and material moved in or out. While the door is open, a large amount of humid air from the clean room will enter the WIP Freezer. This will result in rapid icing of the evaporators nearest the door. Sensors installed on the evaporators will determine when defrost is required, and put that unit into defrost. The remaining 3 evaporators will continue to function. The control system will permit only one unit to defrost at a time. The same system that senses the need for defrost will terminate the defrost process when complete, and begin to defrost the next evaporator (if necessary). The system has been designed to maintain temperature with only two evaporators and two compressors operational. The remaining two are for a) rapid pull—down of space temperature in anticipation of a door opening event, and b) rapid return to design conditions at the conclusion of a door opening event. Compressor staging and liquid line solenoid operation will be controlled by the Logix computer control system based on temperature demand. 2. Long Term Freezer The Long Term Freezer has 3 evaporator units located within, and is on a suction level that also includes one evaporator each from the Thaw Room and the Air Lock. The suction lines from these areas are connected together and run to a common suction accumulator. There are three semi—hermetic reciprocating compressors connected to this accumulator. During normal conditions, these compressors operate at approximately 12 psig suction and 180-255 psig discharge pressure (depending on ambient weather conditions). This is designed to maintain a —15'F temperature in the Long Term Freezer. The Thaw Room and Air Lock will be maintained at +40°F by using valves to regulate a higher suction pressure at those evaporators. This Toad is expected to be relatively steady compared to the WIP Freezer. Defrost times predetermined (adjustable) time schedule. and durations will be determined by frost and temperature sensors on the three Long Term Freezer evaporators. The Thaw Room and Air Lock will defrost based on Operators will input desired space temperature setpoints into the Logix control system. Logix will stage compressors 3. Common Elements and evaporators, and control liquid line solenoid operation, based on temperature demand. REVIEWED FOR 3CODE COMPLIANCE APPROVED IJUN 2 5 2013 a, City of Tukwila BUILDING DIVISION All compressors will be on a single skid, integrating the compressors, accumulators, single (common) oil separator, oil level management system, high pressure receiver, local safety controls, and start contactors. There are two accumulators, one for each suction level. Compressor discharge is into a common header, and is passed through a coalescing type separator. Removed oil is stored in a common reservoir and fed back to each compressor as needed via crankcase—mounted level control valves. Discharge gas exiting the separator enters the roof—mounted air—cooled condenser, and is condensed to a high pressure liquid. This liquid is gravity drained back to the high pressure receiver, which acts as a liquid reservoir for the evaporators. High pressure liquid is piped via a common main header to all evaporators. Each evaporator has a liquid line solenoid valve, which is controlled by the Logix system based on local temperature. When liquid refrigerant is fed through an evaporator, it passes through a thermostatic expansion valve. This valve meters the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator based on superheat measurement at the evaporator outlet. A portion of the liquid refrigerant passing through the expansion valve orifice evaporates, cooling the remaining liquid to a saturated condition equal to the evaporator suction pressure. This cooled liquid is distributed to the evaporator tubes and provides a cooling effect by evaporating when warmer room air is passed over the tubes. Refrigerant vapor leaving the evaporators is piped back to the appropriate suction accumulator on the compressor skid. These accumulators serve to separate liquid refrigerant and oil from the vapor stream before they can damage the compressors. Once started and commissioned by PermaCold, this system will require minimal "operation." Temperatures, pressures, liquid levels, and operational status of equipment must be regularly monitored by the system operators. The Logix system is capable of notifying an operator (via alarm or auto—dialer) if a system parameter is exceeded.
