MINUTES
November 8, 2017 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center
CaII to Order: Vice Chairperson Don Scanlon called the meeting to order at 5:34pm.
Attendance: Commissioners — Don Scanlon, Sean Albert, Heidi Watters, Scott Kruize
Staff — Robert Eaton,
Citizens — Roger Arnold, Cory Briscoe
Approval of Minutes: Sean Albert moved to approve the minutes of the September 13, 2017 meeting. Scott Kruize
seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Special Presentations: none
Citizen Comment: Cory Briscoe and Roger Arnold both shared that they had applied for the Park Commission and
shared their interests with the Commission. The Commission asked a few questions of each candidate.
Business Items
A. Green Tukwila Update & Expenditure Request—This item was requested by the Commission at the
October 11, 2017 meeting. Robert Eaton walked the commission through the agenda item outlining the
detailed expenditure list on page 3 of the packet. The expenditure is for tools and supplies for the Green
Tukwila program.
Heidi Watters moved to approve the expenditure not to exceed $1,450 for supplies for the Green Tukwila program from
the Park Commission budget. The motion was seconded by Scott Kruize. The motion passed unanimously.
B. FGL Bridge Naming — Scott Kruize said he was appreciative of how well the information was put together
from the Men's and Women's Golf Clubs regarding the request to name the bridge at Foster Golf Links. It
as suggested that additional information be included with the signage explaining why the bridge was
named.
Scott Kruize moved to recommend naming the bridge at Foster Golf Links as requested by the Men's and Women's
Clubs as the "Joe and Hazel Aliment Memorial Bridge" and forward to the City Council for consideration. The motion
was seconded by Heidi Watters. The motion passed unanimously.
C. New Park Naming — Robert Eaton reviewed Resolution No. 1400 regarding Naming of Public Facilities with
the Commission. Commissioner Heidi Watters had requested consideration be given to name the new
parcel located along S. 128th Street and 35th Ave S. After further discussion the Commission agreed to wait
on the naming process until a site master plan is completed. This site is one of the initial Green Tukwila
sites.
Other: December Meeting Cancelled — All Commissions Social on 12/13/17
Highline Community Symphonic Band Concert Flyer was shared with the Commission.

Adjournment: At 6:10pm Sean Albert moved to close the meeting. Scott Kruize seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously.

Green Tukwila Update
January 2, 2018
Admin Update:
• Forterra is finishing the two-year contract and in the process of sending all the documents to
Tukwila staff for review. Staff has had one training with the Access Volunteer Database and will
be receiving an updated database by the end of the month.
• Olena is working on text for a Green Tukwila page on the Tukwila website and has joined the
Green Tukwila Facebook page.
• Olena has put together the first draft (see below) of the Green Tukwila 2018 event plan.
Volunteer Update:
• MLK Day of Service has 9 people registered.
• Olena also met another interested person by Hazelnut Park who wants to cut tree rings on his
own time.
• Staff is also working on a Marketing Plan for volunteers with partners.
• We had two work parties in November
o Just under 20 volunteers at our first work party with Heidi Watters at Riverton Creek

o 6 People our from Ryder Transportation at Codiga Park, plus 2 Sound Stewards from
EarthCorps
Partner Update:
Forterra, Earthcorps, Student Conservation Association (SCA), Friends of the Hill and Forest Stewards
