ISSUE
The Student Representative position on the Library Advisory Board is currently vacant.
Library Advisory Board
Student Representative Position: I am recommending the appointment of Angelica Gonzalez
Martinez to this position. The term for this position expires June 30, 2025, upon graduation from
Foster High School. Her application is attached for your review.
RECOMMENDATION
I am recommending this appointment be confirmed by Council at the August 7, 2023 Council
Meeting.

Please describe your interest in serving on a board, commission or committee and include your
qualifications for the position. (Please limit your response to 500 words or less.)
As a highschool student I am not sure that I have lots of qualifications for a position like this,
however I do think I am a well spoken person who is willing to listen to others and give my advice
and perspective. I am also willing to learn which is part of why I would like to join on serving either
a board, commission, or committee. I think that it is important for teens; to know about their
community and what is happening around them. ve always been interested in learning more
about my surroundings which is why this is such a perfect opportunity for that. Not only will 1 get to
voice my thoughts on a couple of things but also learn the views of others. This is a great learning
opportunity for me and it could be very eye opening for present and future me. It could maybe even
help me become more confident and a bigger person in aspects of fighting for what is right and
demanding change where the people want to see it.This is also a form of giving back to the
community that I live in and cherish greatly.

I have done nothing of the sort quite yet.
Hobbies/Interests:
I am a person that is more interested in creative arts such as being included in drama as a crew
member, drawing though i'm not very good. I also like reading and writing mini stories or random
thoughts, I also like listening to music whenever I can and try finding new and interesting forms of
writing. I also enjoy cooking and love baking.
