1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:00PM
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members:
• Present: Steve Miller, Crystal Lyons, Robin Boland, Cynthia Chesak
• Online: Gerie Ventura
• Absent: Marie Parrish
b. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
• King County Library System Staff: Steven Bailey, Library Services Manager; Mary Sue
Houser, Regional Manager

3. Land Acknowledgement — Steve Miller read the land acknowledgement:
"The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging."
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes — September 2, 2025
a. Agenda: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the agenda. Robin Boland seconded the motion
to approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b. Minutes:Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the minutes. Robin Boland seconded the motion
to approve the minutes; all were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business
a. Little Library painting review — Cynthia Chesak provided a wrap up of the painting day and
members discussed it.
b. Budget review — John Dunn discussed the 2025 budget and reviewed the planned expenses
coming up. Board members discussed the plan.
c. Final preparation for Fall Carnival Support and participation — Discussion by the board members
of who was attending and the books they wanted to purchase. The list was given to John Dunn
to order for the event.

7. New Business
a. Open Board position — John Dunn discussed the resignation of Verna Seal and the opening that
was created. Sarah Vallieu has expressed interest in applying for the open position.
b. Tukwila Historical Society proposal — Sarah Vallieu discussed the idea of installing a Little Library
at the Historical Society building. She asked questions of the Board and staff on how they set up
the board sponsored ones. The Historical Society is moving forward with looking into adding the
Little Library and the Board expressed support for them to do so.
8. Staff Reports
a. KCLS: Staff provided updates on the upcoming activities at the library.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
9. Reports of Board Members/Announcements
a. No reports at this time.
10. Next Meeting: November 4, 2025
