NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City's Arts Commission will meet on April 15, 2026, at 6 p.m.
This meeting will be held in person and on Teams (call -in number 253-292-9750 /conference ID: 624 335 571#)
in the Executive Conference Room at the Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Avenue South. For questions, please

Call to Order/LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish
people. We acknowledge their continuing connections to land, waters, and culture. We pay our respect to their elders
past, present and emerging.

o Tukwila Library: Blanca Santander has been contacted as the artist for building window murals
o Baker Boulevard:
■ Nikita Ares is developing a banner mural for the Materia Music building
■ Mari Shibuya is developing a banner mural for the Prose building.
■ Scott Trimble is creating a streetside sculpture.
o Tukwila Pedestrian Bridge: Jean Bradbury is developing two-dimensional cut-outs for painting people.

o Portrait Project Update (Kamla Kakaria)
■ Artist questions: Are those residing outside Tukwila, and youth artists, okay?
• The commission voted to include artists residing in Washington State and youth
artists.
• Nominee: confirm that they would like to be included.
■ Nominee Form (Michael will create the form): Name, Connection to the City (resident or
work), Reason for nomination (brief statement).
■ Engagement plan: city newsletters, table at State of the City and Tukwila Farmers Market,
social media, webpage, engage the other boards and commissions
• Sheila Coppola will talk with city community engagement manager Jo Anderson.
o Grant Program (Pat Bako)
■ Waiting for response from Mayor McLeod to confirm the artist grants (the Mayor had
conditionally supported funding two artist grants of $2500)
o Baker Boulevard Block Party Meeting (Pat Bako / Pinky Estell)
■ Pat recommended that the planning committee use 4Culture's performing artist roster to find
acts for the June 16th World Cup Festival on Baker Boulevard.
• New Business:
o Pat Bako discussed support for the arts in Tukwila with a Seattle -based artist. They were very
complimentary of the public art throughout the city.
o The commission would like to table at the State of the City on April 29.

o Watch Party Locations (Southcenter Viewing Lounge, TIB - Foster Stadium/Sullivan Center, and
TCC) and Block Party location at Baker Boulevard
