1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:01PM
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members:
• Present: Cynthia Chesak, Crystal Lyons
• Online: Gerie Ventura, Robin Boland, Marie Parrish
• Absent: Steve Miller
b. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
• King County Library System Staff: Steven Bailey, Library Services Manager
• c. Public:
• None
3. Land Acknowledgement - Gerie Ventura read the land acknowledgement:
"The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging."
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes - February 3, 2026
a. Agenda: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the agenda. Crystal Lyons seconded the motion to
approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b. Minutes:Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the minutes. Marie Parrish seconded the motion
to approve the minutes; all were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business
a. None
7. New Business
a. 2025 year-end report -The board discussed content and timeline for providing report to council.
They board is working towards providing the report to council mid summer 2026.
b. Discussion on filling vacant board seat and Student Rep position- After some discussion on ideas,
Robin Boland will write an article to be placed in the Hazelnut report about serving on the board
for both community memberand student rep. Steven Bailey will reach out to the teen Librarian
for potential students.

c. Goal review- The board reviewed last year's goals and after some discussion decided on the
2026 goals for the board.
d. Strategic planning for 2026- the board discussed ways to continue to support the goals and
objectives of the board.
8. Staff Reports
a. KCLS: Staff provided updates on the upcoming activities at the library.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
9. Reports of Board Members/Announcements
a. Gerie Ventura shared the Friends of Tukwila Library met last week and are working on a book
sale.
10. Next Meeting: April 7, 2026
a. Next Meeting Agenda Items:
i. 2025 year-end report continued
ii. Review article for filling vacant board seat and Student Rep position- Robin Boland
iii. New ideas for Board support or activities if new funding
iv. Guest Speaker- KCLS Librarian, TBD
