EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The construction of a new Large Evidence Storage facility is on the critical path for the disposition of Old Fire Station 51. Currently, Tukwila Police Department (PD) is utilizing Old Fire Station 51 engine bays as an interim storage facility for evidence too large to store at the Justice Center. The property sale is scheduled to close escrow in July of 2026. This project facilitates the relocation of PD large evidence storage operation into a permanent location, and expands storage capacity by 1,800 sq ft. Staff is requesting this item be forwarded to the May 4th Regular Meeting Consent Agenda. DISCUSSION The PD Large Evidence Storage project was advertised for bid in April 2026, utilizing the MRSC Small Works Roster. Four bids were received and opened on April 08, 2026. The engineer's estimate for the construction work was $250,000 - $350,000. Staff and the City's consultant, Miller Hayashi Architects PLLC, have reviewed the bids for accuracy and responsiveness. Mike Werlech Construction, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid for $332,956 (plus contingency), which is within the engineer's estimated pre-tax cost range.
