1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:01PM
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members:
• Present: Cynthia Chesak, Crystal Lyons, Gerie Ventura, Robin Boland, Holly Smith
• Online: Marie Parrish
• Absent: Steve Miller
b. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
• King County Library System Staff: Steven Bailey, Library Services Manager; Alex
Michel, Children's Services - Southcenter Library
3. Land Acknowledgement - Gerie Ventura read the land acknowledgement:
"The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging."
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes - March 3, 2026
a. Agenda: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the agenda. Marie Parrish seconded the motion
to approve the agenda; all were in favor.
b. Minutes: Robin Boland motioned to approve the minutes. Crystal Lyons seconded the motion to
approve the minutes; all were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business
a. Standing Item: '26 goals review - The board reviewed the goals and discussed.
b. 2025 year-end report - No update, will be added to next agenda.
c. Review Hazelnut Article for filling Student Rep position - Robin Boland shared a write up and
the board discussed. A minor revision was made and John Dunn will submit write up and a
couple pictures for the Hazelnut.
7. New Business
a. Board appointment of Holly Smith - The board made introductions and got to know Holly. John
explained the process of appointment.

b. KCLS Guest speaker; Alex Michel, Children's Services - Southcenter Library introduced herself
and discussed different programs that she offers at the Southcenter Library.
c. New ideas for support or activities — The Board discussed some ideas for future support if more
funding is available.
8. Staff Reports
a. KCLS: Staff provided updates on the upcoming activities at the library.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
9. Reports of Board Members/Announcements
a. Robin Boland shared she brought some booksthatcould be used to help replenish little libraries
if needed.
10. Next Meeting: May 5, 2026
a. Next Meeting Agenda Items:
i. 2025 year-end report continued
ii. Ideas for Board support or activities continued
iii. Guest Speaker- KCLS Librarian, TBD
