PRESENTATIONS No presentations. II. BUSINESS AGENDA A. Video Inspection Vehicle DOE Grant Application Staff is seeking Committee approval to apply for a Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE) grant in the amount of $30,000 to offset the scheduled purchase of a Sewer/Surface Water Video Inspection Vehicle. The vehicle will be used for NPDES permit regulations, so it will qualify for the DOE grant with no match required by the City. As this vehicle was already scheduled in the 2013-2014 Biennial Budget, COMMITTEE APPROVAL TO APPLY FOR DOE this will be a significant savings for the City. GRANT. B. Sewer Comprehensive Plan Capital Projects Update Staff presented the sewer capital projects included in the proposed Sewer Comprehensive Plan. A major sewer project will include the future Sewer Lift Station No. 13 at 6500 Southcenter Blvd. The consultant proposed two options to upgrade the sewer mains from the Tukwila North Hill area to a King County Metro trunk line. The first option was to go under I-405, but this presented WSDOT permitting issues as well as grading problems. The Sewer Lift Station No. 13 will now have a force main running up Southcenter Blvd past City Hall and connect to KC Metro at Macadam Rd and I-5. Sewer capacity may become an issue if the Southcenter Plan and the residential build out actually occurs. The future development of the Circuit City site was discussed and Mike Cusick believes that the hotel/condos could connect directly to the King County Metro sewer main at Strander Blvd. Also discussed was the Sewer Fund balance and staff will return to Utilities Committee with the CIP update and the Reserve balance this summer. Verna asked if technology is able to update our sewer infrastructure, but the only thing that really changes is our ability to communicate with the sewer pumps. The sewer pumps have remained the same, but we are now able to access the pump controls by telemetry. Any sewer lift station warnings can be investigated by staff from a laptop at home to determine if there is an emergency. Chuck INFORMATION ONLY. concurred with the pump information as he sold sewer pumps for his career. III.
