<br /> <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />April 1, 2014 5:30pm Tukwila Community Center <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order: Arts Commission Chair, Trisha Gilmore called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />Attendance: Commissioners Cynthia Chesak, Brian Kennedy, Trisha Gilmore <br /> Absent: Steve Mullet <br /> Staff Stephanie Gardner Parks and Recreation <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the February 4, 2014 meeting were unanimously <br /> approved. <br /> <br />Citizen Comment: no citizen comment <br /> <br />t©;­;“··zš“ <br />Not Applicable <br /> <br />Business Items <br />Commissioner Application Review: The Commission reviewed two applications from those interested i <br /> <br />joining the Arts Commission. One application is from a citizen s from a student. Stephanie will <br />schedule a meeting with each applicant to meet with Cynthia Ches <br />future. <br />Military Road Play Update: Cynthia Chesak provided a progress update regarding the Milit <br /> <br />by Foster High School Students. Her update is as follows: Military Road is an original play about the <br />Duwamish Valley during 1855 to 1856. It depicts the life of homesteaders at that time and the reason <br />for the road to be built and how the forthcoming creation of Military Road will change their lives and the <br />growth of this area. The script is a collaboration of Foster High School theatre stud <br />Rachel Atkins. The project is paid for through funding from Tukwila Arts Commis Performances are <br />scheduled for May 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. in the Foster Performing A Tickets at the door, $5 for <br />adults and $4 for seniors and students with ASB. <br />thth <br />18 Annual Tukwila Days Art Show: Stephanie distributed the Call for Artists for the 18 Annual Tukwila <br /> <br />Days Art Show and asked that commissioners consider assisting wi <br />show reception. <br />Orb Update piece that the Commission <br /> <br />purchased in th made by Brian Kennedy that City Staff review the Orb to <br />determine if it can be repaired. Cynthia Chesak seconded the mo <br />carried. <br />1% sub Committee: Stephanie informed the Commission that a sub-committee will be formed soon to <br /> <br />determine how the 1% for the arts initiative should be implement <br /> <br />Other <br />Meeting Time Change: Brian Kennedy made a motion to change the <br /> <br />meeting to 5:00 pm instead of 5:30 pm. Cynthia Chesak seconded ion, all were in favor and the <br />motion carried. <br />CASTT Update: Cynthia Chesak provided an <br /> <br />Fiction. Stephanie is ordering scripts. <br />PAC Summer Repairs: Cynthia informed the Commission of repairs and maintenance to be completed at <br /> <br />the PAC during the summer of 2014. <br /> <br />
