ARTS COMMISSION <br />".RIBS Rt ,RtI AT "1 :)N <br />MINUTES <br />November 4, 2014 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center <br />Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair, Trisha Gilmore, at 5:00 pm. <br />Attendance: Commissioners — Cynthia Chesak, Brian Kennedy, Steve Mullet, Trisha Gilmore <br />Student Representative — Nandina Cengic <br />Staff — Stephanie Gardner — Parks and Recreation <br />Guests: Jerri Plumbridge — SeedArts <br />Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the October 7, 2014 meeting were unanimously approved. <br />Citizen Comment: There were no Citizen Comments <br />Business Items: <br />SeedArts Presentation: Jerri Plumridge from SeedArts introduced artists who are developing public art <br />that will be installed at Tukwila Village. Andersen Studios presented their concept for "Twin Sculptures ", <br />and Mary Coss presented her concept for "Waters of Welcome." Each also provided materials and <br />overall explanations of their concepts. Ms. Plumridge provided an overview of Stu Schechter's Clock <br />Tower. Feedback from the Commission was positive, the Commission will further discuss the artwork at <br />their December meeting to provide feedback to SeedArts. <br />Arts 1% Process Update: Stephanie Gardner informed the Commission that she will be distributing 1% <br />for the Arts processes that other cities have employed at the December or January meeting. She is <br />currently gathering policy and process implementation plans from other cities. <br />Piano: Stephanie informed the Commission that staff would be presenting information on painting the <br />stand -up piano that is used for piano lessons. The piano is currently stained however staff would like to <br />have it painted so that it can be utilized more in public spaces for impromptu playing by community <br />center users and guests. <br />Holiday Giving Program: Stephanie provided an overview of the upcoming Holiday Giving Program <br />and extended an invitation to the Commission to participate. Trisha Gilmore extended an invitation to the <br />City to shop for family literacy games through her store, she can offer games at wholesale pricing plus <br />the cost of shipping. <br />Other <br />Holiday Lights: Stephanie distributed information on the Tukwila Holiday Lights contest. <br />Community Pride: The community Pride monition form deadline has been extended into December. <br />Commissioners requested a copy of the Art Commission 2015 Budget for the December meeting. The <br />Commissioners requested a presentation from the Rainier Symphony in early 2015. <br />Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 pm. <br />Next Meeting: December 2, 2014 <br />
