ARTS COMMISSION <br />iW� a <.S & uU C, A LXi1 1 0 N <br />MINUTES <br />April 7, 2015 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center <br />Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Commission Chair, Steve Mullet at 5:05 pm <br />Attendance: Commissioners — Cynthia Chesak, Steve Mullet, Brian Kennedy Trisha Gilmefc ndrionno <br />s <br />Student Representative— Daniel Humke was sitting place of Nandina Cengic <br />Staff — Stephanie Gardner - Brown, Parks and Recreation <br />Guests: Rainier Symphony Board Members: Eric Tishkoff, President and Susan Reynolds <br />Susan, Vice President <br />Presentation: Rainier Symphony Board President, Eric Tishkoff and Vice President, Susan Reynolds, were <br />present to provide an overview of the Rainier Symphony's accomplishments and future goals. Ms. Reynolds <br />provided a brief history of the Rainier Symphony. The Symphony has been in existence for 34 years and is <br />made up of 70 volunteer musicians, many of whom have volunteered for several years (in some instances <br />decades). Mr. Tishkoff provided an overview of current affairs. Right now there isn't a director /conductor, the <br />board invited guest conductors to lead one concert each throughout 2016, and the same will happen next year <br />however the guest conductors will be candidates for the director /conductor role. The Board continues to seek <br />opportunities for connection with the community, especially with the citizens of Tukwila and the Tukwila School <br />District. The Arts Commission provided several ideas for connection and Stephanie will follow up with ways to <br />connect with the community through Parks and Recreation and the City. <br />Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the March 3, 2015 meeting were unanimously approved. <br />Citizen Comment: There were no Citizen Comments <br />Business Items: <br />Other <br />a. Municipal Arts Fund: Stephanie Gardner -Brown provided a brief status update regarding the <br />development of guidelines and procedures for the 1 % of Capital Project Funding for Public Art. <br />She explained City staff continue to work on draft implementation procedures and guidelines. <br />Stephanie is also in the process of coordinating a work session with 4Culture to provide <br />information about public art integration within projects, this session will be open to City staff <br />members. <br />b. 19th Annual Tukwila Fine Arts Show: Stephanie distributed postcards that were mailed to over <br />250 artists. She also provided information about websites where show information has been <br />posted. <br />c. Art display panels: Stephanie provided information about Art Display panels, the Commission <br />selected panels and Cynthia Chesak made a motion to purchase panels from ProPanels, along <br />with necessary hardware. The motion was seconded by Brian Kennedy, all were in favor and the <br />motion carried. <br />a. Cynthia Chesak provided information about the final shows being performed this school year. <br />The shows will be on May 201h and May 21St <br />Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm. <br />
