ARTS COMMISSION <br />PR.KIS & Ru (.RENiF1(:) MINUTES <br />00 March 1, 2016 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center <br />Call to Order: Chairperson Brian Kennedy called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m. <br />Attendance: Commissioners - Cynthia Chesak, Trisha Gilmore, Brian Kennedy, Steve Mullet, Daniel Humkey <br />Staff - Dave Johnson <br />Approval of Minutes: Trisha Gilmore moved to approve the minutes of February 2, 2016 meeting. Cynthia Chesak <br />seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Citizen Comment <br />Tukwila Resident Sheila Coppola introduced herself and is interested in applying to fill a vacant Arts Commission <br />position. Sheila and the Commission exchanged comments and questions. <br />Business Items <br />A. Arts Commissioner Summit Re -Cap — Commissioners provided a re -cap of the recent Arts Commissioner <br />Summit hosted by SoCo Culture at the Tukwila Community Center. Commissioners noted that the food was <br />amazing, the guest speakers provided very good information, and the breakout sessions were really good. <br />One of the many take -aways from the event was to have more of a presence at Council to stay relevant, <br />support the Arts, and show that Art improves a community. <br />B. Backyard Wildlife Art Show — Staff provided show information to the Commissioners. It was noted that <br />more hooks are needed for the art panels. <br />C. Arts 1% Implementation Update - Staff provided a brief update on implementing the 1% for the Arts fund in <br />Tukwila. Staff are finalizing the policy. The Finance Director will be setting up the fund. <br />D. Work Plan Development — Commissioners would like to add an annual presentation to City Council to the <br />work plan. <br />Other <br />A. Staff provided information to the Commission about the upcoming Tukwila School District Film Festival. <br />Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 6:23pm <br />Next Meeting: April TBD <br />
