Citvof <br />.: City Council Community Services & Safety Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 8, 2020 - 5:30 p.m. - Electronic Meeting due to COVID-19 Emergency <br />Councilmembers Present: Kate Kruller, Chair; Thomas McLeod, Cynthia Delostrinos Johnson <br />Staff Present: Allan Ekberg, David Cline, Bruce Linton, Jay Wittwer, Laurel <br />Humphrey, Trish Kinlow <br />Chair Kruller called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />I. BUSINESSAGENDA <br />A. 202015t Quarter Police Department Report <br />Chief Linton presented the report, covering 15t Quarter highlights, significant operations, and <br />crime statistics. Committee members and staff had a discussion about current events <br />including the current wave of protests initiated by the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. <br />Chief Linton reviewed a memo to the Council titled "A Comprehensive Report on Community <br />Policing, Use of Force and the Impacts of Bias on Our Diverse Communities," addressing the <br />use -of -force model, oversight and training, community engagement strategy, and impacts of <br />the Washington State Law Enforcement Training & Community Services Act. <br />Committee Recommendation: <br />Discussion only. <br />B. 202015t Quarter Fire Department Report <br />Chief Wittwer reported on items of significance during the first quarter, includingcall statistics, <br />operations, and staffing. <br />Committee Recommendation: <br />Discussion only. <br />MISCELLANEOUS <br />The meeting adjourned of 6:57 p.m. <br />Committee Chair Approval <br />Minutes by LH <br />
