Office of the Mayo <br />O <br />W as h ingto n <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, water is an increasily precious local and global commodity; and <br />WHEREAS, the central Puget Sound Region is uniquely blessed with <br />sufficient, high quality and good tasting water; and <br />WHEREAS, this week the Water Supply Forum, serving Snohomish, King <br />and Pierce Counties, announced that the Puget Sound region has enough water for <br />the next 50 years; and <br />WHEREAS, Tukwila is a member of Cascade Water Alliance, a Forum <br />member; and <br />WHEREAS, a secure water future provides our city /region /district with one <br />of the most advantageous water situations in the entire country; and <br />WHEREAS, a water future that is reliable, safe and secure gives this region <br />an economic advantage over other parts of the country; and <br />WHEREAS, regional planning, foresight and a diverse portfolio of supply <br />options has resulted in flexibility to respond to job and population growth, <br />provide value to consumers and protect the environment; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jim Haggerton, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do <br />hereby proclaim the week of May 7 —11, 2012, <br />Drinking Water Week <br />in the City of Tukwila, and encourage all citizens to join me in recognizing this <br />special observance.
