Storage may not be closer than 18 inches below sprinkler heads. (NFPA 13, 4 -2.5 and NFPA 231.5 -1) 2. Storage may not'be closer than 36 inches in all directions to ceiling -hung "Space or Unit" heaters. (UFC 1109.2) 3. The critical storage height for high -piled combustible stock in closely packed piles is 12 feet. (UFC 9.110) Storage above 12 feet may necessitate increasing the sprinkler density to extra hazard and adding smoke removal capabilities. (UFC 8101) (NFPA 231) 4. To use any building or portion thereof exceeding 500 square feet for the storage of high -piled combustible stock. A floor plan showing the dimensions and location of the stockpiles and aisles shall be submitted with applications for such permits. (UFC 8101) 5. High -piled combustible storage is combustible materials in closely packed piles more than 12 feet in height or combustible materials on pallets or in racks more than 12 feet in height. New sprinkler systems and all modifications to sprinkler systems involving more than 50 heads shall have the written approval of the W.S.R.B., Factory Mutual, Industrial Risk Insurers, Kemper or any other representative designated and /or recognized by The City of Tukwila, prior to submittal to the Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau.
