PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, our current energy sources are finite, yet our economy and
growing population's energy demands continue to expand; and
WHEREAS, maintenance of our quality of life depends on secure, stable,
and reliable supplies of energy; and
WHEREAS, the fragile nature of our environment teaches us that we must
use our resources wisely; and
WHEREAS, energy efficiency is the most cost effective means of making
additional energy available for consumption and lowering energy costs; and
WHEREAS, our future depends on our efforts to make energy cleaner,
more abundant and more affordable; and
WHEREAS, the development of affordable alternative and renewable
energy technologies are part of that future; and
WHEREAS, Energy Awareness Month is a time to focus on responsible
energy use, conservation, alternative fuel development, increased domestic
energy supply, and diversification of our energy supply through advanced and
innovative technologies;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jim Haggerton, Mayor of Tukwila, do hereby
proclaim October 2009:
Energy Awareness Month
in the City of Tukwila, and encourage all citizens to join me in working toward a
more stable and secure energy future.
