TEMPERED SAFETY GLASS
Typical Applications for Heat Treated Tempered Glass
Federal, state and local laws require safety glazing such as heat treated tempered glass wherever human impact is
possible, e.g. doors and sidelights. If broken the glass falls out of its opening in interlocking clumps.
Selecting the Right Strength
Annealed: As- produced glass is cooled slowly as it exits the float line, minimizing residual internal stresses.
Heat Treated Tempered Glass: Three to five times stronger than annealed glass is made by cutting annealed glass to
size, heating to near its softening point, and quenching with air more quickly.
Minimum surface compression is 10,000 psi, edge compression 9,700 psi.

Watertight or Hazardous Location Switches
4 -78
Description
Bulletin 802X NEMA Type 4 watertight
limit switches are designed for use
indoors in locations where their internal
parts require protection against
splashing water, seepage of water,
falling or hose - directed water, within the
limits of the NEMA specified tests for
Type 4 watertight enclosures. They are
not sleet- (ice -) proof. Typical
applications are dairies and food
processing plants.
Bulletin 802X NEMA Type 7 and 9 limit
switches are designed for use in
atmospheres and locations defined as
Class I, Groups B, C or D, Division 1,
Class II, Groups E, F or G, or Class III in
the National Electrical Code. Typical
applications for this switch include
refineries, distilleries, grain elevators
and flour mills. For Class I, Division 2
locations, a Bulletin 802R limit switch
may also be used (see page 4-44).

switches such as air and gas pressure switches.
Prior to being put into operation in conjunction
with combustion safe guard systems, all
switches should be tested for proper range set-
ting and proper wiring: Check piping connections
and switch housing for leaks with a soap bubble
test. All exhaust fans and blowers should be in-
spected and checked for proper rotation prior to
starting up. If you have any problems or ques-
tions, phone, wire, or write to the manufacturer,

Application
A25 warm air limit controls lockout"
on a temperature increase to the
control set point. Manual reset is
required to reclose the electrical
circuit. They are for use in a return
air duct, supply air duct or plenum
system to detect excessive
temperature. A typical example is to
shut down air conditioning or
ventilating fans in the event of
excessive temperature in the return
air duct, as from a fire.
The use of these controls with the
standard stop setting of 125'F
(52'C) conforms to NFPA No.
90A -1981.
Installation
Select a location in the duct or
plenum where the temperature
element senses the average
temperature to be controlled and is
in free air circulation.
To mount:
1. Cut a 1 3/8' (35 mm)'diameter
hole in the duct or plenum to
permit installation of tube.
2. Use the flange as a template and
mark locations of the two No. 10
sheet metal screws.
3. Drill or punch mounting screw
holes.
4. Mount the flange with the 112" (13
mm) long No. 10 sheet metal
screws provided.
5. Place the control in the flange and
tighten lockscrews in the flange.
Be sure the element is in the air
stream as far as possible and not
in contact with any object inside
the duct.

Manual Reset Limit Control
Wiring
CAUTION: Disconnect power
supply before wiring connections
are made to avoid possible
electrical shock or damage to the
equipment.
If provided, follow the equipment
manufacturer's diagrams. Make all
wiring connections using copper
conductors only, and in accordance
with the National Electrical Code
and local regulations. Refer to the
cover label for the maximum
electrical rating.
Wiring terminals of the SPDT models
are color coded for convenience
and to simplify wiring.. Red is
common, red to yellow circuit closes
on temperature increase and red to
blue circuit opens on temperature
increase. See Figs. 3 and 4 for
terminal identification and typical
wiring hookup.
When the reset lever is depressed
during normal operation, trip free
contacts are operated, red to blue
opens, and auxiliary contact, red to
yellow, are closed. The auxiliary
system will be activated.
NOTE: Use terminal screws
furnished (8-32 x 1/4" binder head).
Substitution of other screws may
cause problems in making proper
connections.
Adjustment
Control range is adjustable by the
knob, or screwdriver adjustment
located under the cover (Factory
Mutual models). Do not attempt to
force beyond the high limit stop
setting.

For applications other than return air
duct systems (1257[52'C] stop
setting requirement), the high limit
stop may be adjusted by loosening
the screw behind the dial and
sliding the stop assembly back.
(See Fig. 2.) Stop settings of 130,
140, 150, 160, 170 and 200'F (54,
60, 66, 71, 77 and 93 can be
obtained. A stop setting of 215'F
(102'C) can be obtained by
complete removal of the stop screw
and nut assembly.
Checkout Procedure
Before leaving the installation,
observe at lease three complete
operating cycles to be sure that all
components are functioning
correctly.

5.7 Install vent lines from main gas regulator (if used) and (if applicable) diaphragm gas valve. Vent line
should be run to the outside of the building, terminating clear of windows or fresh air intakes. Outside
terminal of vent should have a screen to prevent Insects from building nests in vent pipe. The vent
should terminate in a manner which will preclude the possibility of water, dirt or other matter from enter-
ing the line.
i.8 Test gas lines for leaks using soap solution. Your local gas service company may wish to carry out or
witness this test. CAUTION — gas pressure above 14 ins. w.c. may damage the standard diaphragm gas
shut -off valve. Do not exceed this value when pressure testing lines unless you cap off line upstream of
main gas cock and pilot takeoff.

5.4 Mount leakage test and main gas cocks, main automatic gas valve or combination gas valve /pressure •
regulator, and (where required) auxiliary valves (if not factory mounted) and connect gas valve wires
through flexible conduit to control terminal strip in accordance with wiring diagrams and all applicable
codes.
Install pressure regulator (not used with combination gas valve /pressure regulator) directly upstream of
main automatic gas valve(s) and fit drip leg and main gas cock upstream of regulator or automatic
valve(s).
5.6 The pilot line should be piped into the upstream tapping on the main shut-off cock to gas train. An op-
tional location is a tee piped in just upstream of main shut -off cock. Refer to Figure 3. For ease of servic-
ing we recommend the use of a union immediately upstream of the main gas pressure regulator or com-
bination gas valve /pressure regulator.

Currently fire protection and electrical systems are being installed for the booth.
I estimate that it will take an additional 90 to 120 days to complete the mechanical and electrical systems.
Once these permits are finalized a final will be requested from the building department.
I would request that an extension to this permit be issued to cover this additional time.
