The purpose of this Council Work Session was to:
1) Receive a briefing on the August 27, 2013 Police action on Tukwila International Boulevard;
2) Review the Proposed 2014-2019 Financial Planning Model and Capital Improvement
Program.
August 27, 2013 Police Action on Tukwila International Boulevard
Members of Tukwila Police, Tukwila Fire, and Human Services Staff provided an overview of
the August 27 event during which police and federal agents raided and shut down The Great
Bear Motor Inn, Boulevard Motel, and Travelers Choice Motel located on Tukwila International
Boulevard. The overview included descriptions of the following:
Collaboration between agencies
Investigative history
Operational response
Resourcing and planning
Humanitarian assistance
Statistics and services provided
Future efforts toward crime reduction
Councilmembers asked clarifying questions and expressed their support and appreciation of the
operation.

Proposed 2014-2019 Financial Planning Model and Capital Improvement Program
Staff presented an overview of the following elements of the Proposed 2014-2019 Capital
Improvement Program:
Capital Improvement Projects
Residential Streets
Arterial Streets
Parks
Facilities & Fire
Enterprise Funds
Water
Sewer
Surface Water
Golf Course

Next, staff provided an overview of the Financial Planning Model and the 2 Quarter Financial
Report, including fund balances, general fund revenues and expenditures, and enterprise and
internal service revenues and expenses. Councilmembers asked clarifying questions.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
