PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila was officially incorporated on June 23, 1908;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is celebrating its centennial anniversary
during the year 2008; and
WHEREAS, on June 29, 1908, Charles G. Woods was sworn in as "Town
Marshall," making him the first law enforcement officer for the City of Tukwila;
and
WHEREAS, the Tukwila Police Department has established a historical
committee that is in possession of one of the original star-shaped Tukwila marshal
badges; and
WHEREAS, members of the historical committee have designed a centennial
police badge that incorporates the style of the original marshal badge, and
recognizes the centennial year of 2008; and
WHEREAS, the centennial badge honors marshals, patrolmen and officers of
the past 100 years, recognizes the men and women who provide law enforcement
excellence to the City of Tukwila today, and reflects the proud history of the
symbol of their office;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jim Haggerton, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do
hereby proclaim:
The Tukwila Police Department
lOO-Year Centennial Badge
.
as the official alternate badge that may be worn by members of the Tukwila Police
from January 1 through December 31,2008.
