ORDINANCE NO. 541 L!
AN ORDINANCE creating the office of Fire
Chief.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON
as follows:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created in the City of Tuukwila, Washington the
office of Fire Chief pursuant to RCW' 35- 24,020.
SECTION The duties of this office are as now set forward or hereafter
amended. The Fire Chief, under the direction of the Mayor, is head of the
municipal fire department and is responsible for planning, organizing, and
directing an emergency organization specifically concerned with minim57ing the
loss of life and property caused by fire. This includes the planning, direction,
and coordination of personnell engaged in fire fighting, fire inspections,
training, maintenance and repair of fire equipment, alarm systems, and station
upkeep. He is also required by statute to report all fires of criminal,
suspected, or undetermined origin to the state marshall.
SECTION 3. The salary for the position of Fire Chief is, and shall be set
by Salary Ordinance.
SECTION 4. The Fire Chief shall serve pursuant to Civil Service regulations
of the City of Tukwila and any applicable state statutes.

of February, 1969.
