HomeMy WebLinkAbout1911-02-14 Regular MinutesTukwila, February 14, 1911 The Regular Meeting of the Town council was held at Lutz Hall on the above date. Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at the hour of 8:15 PM. The Councilmembers present were: E.W. Engel Mayor John O. Wold M.H. Miller F.E. Kline The minutes of the previous meeting was read and accepted the following found correct: It stated that certain maps and photographs were in Mr. Parker's possession; this was objected to as we don't know where they are. The report also stated that the first meeting of the new Council had been opened by the Mayor, should read: by the Clerk, the Mayor not yet been qualified for his second term. Another was: In the Mayor's appointments it was that the appointment were approved by the Council. Commiteee Reports: Mr. Wold reported that repair work had been done on Warren Avenue at the cost of $6.00. The Commitees on town property reported that members of the committee consisting of Mr. Worthrup and Mr. Wold had spent some time looking for a suitable office desk but had not purchased and the price been higher than was calibrated at the meeting. It was agreed upon that Mr. Kline should purchase one when opporturnity Mr. Miller reported again on outlet and said that the time was drawing nearer when the street would be closed up by Johnson. Street Committee and in company with Mr. Miller would go another territory next Sunday and see what could be done and report later. Mr. Wold asked the Committee further to do the streets ordered vacated are came up for discussion. Bills and Correspondence A printed taken from the Mayor of Renton, Wash was read. It to call the councils attention to Senate Bill 102 now before the Legislature, which practically would take all power away from municipalities to regulate corporations. It was moved and seconded that a protest from the Council against this Bill be sent to our representative at Olympia. The Clerk was ordered to write Mr. Webster to oppose the measure also to write Mr. Pratt and Mr. Austin and aknowledge receipt of his correspondence. A Letter from Mrs. Caroline Lutz was Addendum A correspondence from the Pugest Sound Electric Company was read stating that the matter of at railroad crossing and station would be taken up with their transmission and a speed agreeable to the Town would be reached satisfactory. The following Bills were read and presented for payment: Warren 3.75 F. 3.00 Registration Book 4.00 Mrs. Lutz for Hall rent 2.00 Marshalls Salary for 1910 5.00 Clerks salary for January 1911 5.50 The Bills were approved OK and warrants ordered drawn for their payment. New Business A petition from Mr. Wigurik was before the Council. Mr. Wigurik asked for repair work done on Bluff Street. The petition was turned over to the Street Committee for investigation and reported to later. The Marshall reported that Mr. Earl James was owning a vicious bulldog that was dangerous to run at large, the Clerk was instructed to write Mr. James to either chain the animal or have it shot. The Bonds given by the Marshall and Clerk were ordered and appeared by Committee on M There was no more Business appearing. Adjournment was taken at 9:00 PM. C.P. Jensen, Clerk
