RE: MCCANN PROJECT 377 -L /COURTESY MOVING AND STORAGE., INC.
The building permit for McCann Project 377 -L is being withheld at my request
pending compliance with Chapter 18 of the Tukwila Municipal Code. During my
review, I became aware that the funciton of Courtesy Moving and Storage, Inc.:
fell into the definition of a "truck terminal". The Board of Adjustment on the
21st of September adopted the following detailed definition of a "truck terminal ":
A truck terminal provides the following functions:
(1) A location to receive, pick -up and /or delivery of orders
which are placed by customers.
(2) The location of the dispatcher (functioning with that or any
other title) which directs the activities of the truck driver.
(3) The location used by the truck common carrier to receive
shipments for transloading, transhipping and /or consolidation
or from which transportation ensues after transloading, tran-
shipping or de- consolidation.
(4) The location where rolling stock of the common carrier is
parked during periods of non -use.
All four of the above functions must be present on the site to be
determined to be operating as a "truck terminal ".
The building permit will be held until after the public hearing of the Tukwila
Planning Commission on Thursday, 21 December 1979, in the Council Chambers of
the Tukwila City Hall located at 6200 Southcenter Boulevard. The Planning
Commission may impose conditions on the Conditional Use Permit, which will
have to be complied with on the site plans for the building permit.

SUBJECT: TRUCK TERMINAL IN THE CITY OF TUKWILA

The Board of Adjustment at their last meeting on Thursday, September 21, 1978,
directed me, as Secretary for the Board, to request that the planning staff
review "all companies in the City of Tukwila that.are performing a trucking
function, whether it be common carriage, contract carriage, or private carriage
for consideration of the necessity of application for a conditional use permit
by each company reviewed."
The Board of Adjustment has adopted the interpretation presented by Mr. Goe
based on the following common functions of a truck terminal:
