In reviewing the above mentioned project plans, please
note the following items:
1. Per UFC Section 10.109(E), "There shall be
no enclosed usable space under stairways in
an exit enclosure, nor shall the open space
under such stairways be used for any purpose ".
2. Per UFC Section 10.104(B), "All doors in or
leading to exits shall be maintained openable
from the inside without the use of a key or
any special knowledge or effort at all times
when the building or area served thereby is
occupied ".
. Per UFC Section 10.113, "At every required exit
doorway, and wherever otherwise required to
clearly indicate the direction of egress, an
exit sign with letters at least six inches high
and readily distinguishable shall be maintained ".
4. Walls to be fire stopped per UBC Section 2517(f).
5. Fire extinguisher type, quantity and placement
shall be per NFPA #10.
6. Additional requirements such as "Rack Sprinklers ",
increased smoke-venting, ones -hour walls, addit-
ional extinguishers, etc. may be required depend-
ing upon the exact usage and contents. These
features were undeterminable from the information
provided.

mentioned project.

Per our field inspection of the subject site this morning, I,am.with-
holding further action on this matter until we obtain from the applicant
a more concise plan set setting forth clearly the extent of improvements
be constructed under this permit. Please advise me when the revised
set is received.
PURPOSE: To serve as a transmittal letter and form that other city departments
can use to make comments on and state requirements on new building per-
mit applications.
