Skarbo Furniture Building
Following the March 23, 1978 meeting with you in our Renton
.office, our engineering personnel reviewed the proposed plans
of the Skarbo Furniture building as it relates to our sub-
station property to the south.
We enclose a copy of an interdepartmental memorandum which
identifies some of our concerns. We would appreciate
receiving your finalized drainage,' mechanical, and structural
footing plans before starting any construction so that any
anticipated erosion problem on our property can be equitably
resolved.
We anticipate hearing from you soon and offer our fullest
cooperation in this matter. •

SOUTH CENTER SUBSTATION
March 29, 1978 .
Peter R. Skarbo is proposing to construct a furniture store on the property
to the north of South Center Substation. Architectural plans have been pre-
pared by Mahlum, Mahlum, & Nordfors and a variance has been granted by the
City of Tukwila . to construct the building one foot north of Puget's north
property line. The builder has requested that Puget grant permission to re-
grade the northerly portion of Puget's property adjacent to the building.
A study of the plans indicate that the construction of the building will have
serious impact on Puget's property. The following are .some of the impacts:
1. Drainage from the hillside, both surface and subsurface, will be di-
verted onto Puget's property.
2. Drainage from the building roof drains will also be dumped on Puget's
property.
3. Grading of Puget's property will destroyy the landscaping in this area
and could damage Puget's drainage system.
'4. The toe of the building footing would project into Puget's property.
It is therefore recommended that Puget's property be left undisturbed and that
thebui lder; relocate. the building away from the property line so as to be able

to provide a drainage system on his own property.
It is requested that the architect furnish Puget with finalized drainage, mech-
anical and structural footing plans prior to beginning construction.

.office, our engineering personnel reviewed the proposed plans
of the Skarbo Furniture building as it relates to our sub-
station property to the south.
We enclose a copy of an interdepartmental memorandum which
identifies some of our concerns. We would appreciate •
receiving your finalized drainage,' mechanical, and structural
footing plans before starting any construction so that any
anticipated erosion problem on our property can be equitably
resolved.

SOUTH CENTER SUBSTATION
March 29, 1978 .
Peter R. Skarbo is proposing to construct a furniture store on the property
to the north. of South Center Substation. Architectural plans have been pre-
pared by Mahlum, Mahlum, & Nordfors and a variance has been granted by the
City of Tukwila to construct the building one foot north of Puget's north
property line. The builder has requested that Puget grant permission to re-
grade the northerly portion of Puget's property adjacent to the building.
A study of the plans indicate that the construction of the building will have
serious impact on Puget's property. The following are.some of the impacts:
1. Drainage from the hillside, both surface and subsurface, will be di-
verted onto Puget's property.
2. Drainage from the building roof drains will also be dumped on Puget's
property.
3. Grading of Puget's property will destroy the landscaping in this area
and could damage Puget's drainage system.
A. The toe of the building footing would project into Puget's property.
It is therefore recommended that Puget's property be left undisturbed and that
the builder relocate the building away from the•property line so as to be able
to provide a drainage system on his own property.
It is requested that the architect furnish Puget with finalized drainage, mech-
anical and structural footing plans prior to beginning construction.

Dear Mr. Robertson:
This to confirm our telephone conversation of
Monday, June 5, 1978 regarding your verbal approval of
our request on behalf of the building owners. to '.reduce
the first floor design live load from 150 psf to
75 psf throughout. The actual calculated loading is
less than 50 psf.
It is my understanding that this reduction will be
allowed providing that the design live load for .the
floor is posted in accordance with UBC Section
2304.(e).
