SCOPE OF WORK:. Complete Construction and finish of Buildings as shown
and specified by the Contract Documents, including complete site
Development and Utility connections.
All work shall be in accordance with the current Uniform Building Code
and all other local codes and ordinances adopted by King County.
The General Contractor is responsible for verifing all existing
conditions and dimensions of all items prior to fabrication, installation
or erection. Any conflicts or discrepances on the Drawings or in the
Specifications shall be reported to the Design Firm's Prolect Manager
immediately for clarification. The Design Firm will accept no re
sponsibility for unreported conflicts. Noted. dimensions supersede
'scalled dimensions.
Separate applications will be made for the following permitts:
1. Mechanical and. Plumbing work
2. Electrical work
STRUCTURAL NOTES
CODE: UNIFORM BUILDING CODE
DESIGN LIVE LOADS: Roof -25 psf; Floor -40 psf; Wind -20 psf;
Setsmic Zone -3
FOUNDATIONS: Design Soil Bearing Value = 2,000 psf
Minimum Depth of Footing Below Outside Finish
Grade = 1' -6"
Extend Footings Deeper than minimum to solid bearing
where required
CONCRETE DESIGN: Concrete construction shall conform to ACI specifications
and be unsupervised.
Design in accordance with working stress strength
requirements.
CONCRETE: f'c = 2,500 psi; fc = 1,125 X 0.75 = 844 psi
Minimum 5 -1/2 sacks of cement per cubic yard of
concrete. Maximum slump 3 -1/2"
REINFORCING STEEL: • ASTM - A615, Grade 40. fs = 16,000 psi
Minimum laps at splices = 30 diameters
PROVIDE CONCRETE PROTECTIVE COVER AS FOLLOWS:
Footings -.3" above earth surface and 2" from top and
formed face.
Slabs on Grade -.1" above moisture barrier
Walls Interior Face) - 3/4"
Walls Earth Face) - 2"
Walls Weather Face) - 1 -1/2"
LUMBER AND TIMBER: Douglas Fir, Coast Region, and graded in accordance
with Western Wood Products (WWPA) 1970 - Standard
Grading Rules.
Lumber to be graded as follows:
Beams: No. 1, Fb = 1,350 psi Fv = 85 psi
Joist: No. 2, Fb = 1,250 psi Fv = 95 psi
Framing Lumber: Standard, Fb = 600 Fv = 95 psi
All bolt Heads bearing on wood shall have cut washers
PLYWOOD SHEATHING: Douglas Fir Plywood Association (D.F.P.A.) Group I
Plywood.
All plywood to be Standard INT -DFPA (with exterior glue)
SPECIFICATIONS CONTINUED
GLUE- LAMINATED CONSTRUCTION:
Douglas Fir Combination A, F -b = 2;100 psi
Beams to be laid up in an approved case in glue and
given one coat of approved clear sealer.
MISCELLANEOUS STEEL: Beams, Angles, Clips, Plates and Straps, ASTM -36
fs = 17,280 psi
Pipe Columns ASTM -A53, fy = 35,000 psi
All welds shall be 3/16" continuous fillet welds unless
noted otherwise.
Welding shall be performed by qualified welders using
heavy coated electrodes. Clean welds and metal and
shop paint metal not embedded in concrete with one coat
of approved zinc chromate primer..
TRUSS ERECTION AND SHOP DRAWINGS:
Suppliers shall prepare all required shop and erection
drawings. All drawings shall be approved by General
Contractor prior to transmitting to Architect /Engineer.
Review and approval of the drawings and design
calculations must be secured from the Architect/
Engineer (A /E) and Local Building Authorities prior
to fabrication and erection.
RESOLUTION OF OTHER STRUCTURAL WORK will be done concurrent with field inspection
after sufficient demolition has exposed the nature of
the work. Inspection will be done by registered Structural
Engineer.
PLYWOOD NAILING SCHEDULE:
Floors: 8d nails, 6" o.c. at perimeter edges and 10" o.
at all intermediate supports.
Walls and Roof: 8d nails, 6" o.c. at perimeter edges and
12" o.c. at all intermediate supports.
