In reviewing the above mentioned project plans, please note
the following items:
1. Per UFC Sec. 10.104(b), "A11 doors in or
leading to exits shall be maintained open -
able from the inside without the use of a
key or any special knowledge or effort at
all times when the building or area served
thereby is occupied."
2. Per UFC Sec. 10.113, "At every required exit
doorway, and wherever otherwise required to
clearly indicate the direction of egress, an
exit sign with letters at least 6 inches high
and readily distinguishable shall be maintained."
3. Maintain sprinkler protection for all enclosed
areas,
All sprinkler drawings shall be prepared by
companies licensed to perform this type of work.
Drawings shall first be approved by the Washing-
ton Survey & Rating Bureau, then by the Tukwila
Fire Department. No work shall commence without
approved drawings.
4. Fire extinguishers shall be provided per NFPA #10,
as a minimum requirement.
One dry chemical extinguisher rated 2A, 10 B:C
is required.
5, Per NFPA requirements, extinguishers with a gross
weight of 40 pounds or less shall be hung so
that the top of the extinguisher is not higher
than 60 inches above the floor. Extinguishers
weighing more than 40 pounds, shall be hung so
that the top of the unit is not higher than 42
inches above the floor.

Extinguishers shall be located so as to bean
plain view (if at all possible). If not in
plain view, they shall be identified with a sign
stating, "FIRE EXTINGUISHER" with an arrow
pointing.
6. Proposed storage may not be closer than 18 inches
below sprinkler heads. (Proposed storage /display
bins may not extend to the ceiling as shown).
7. Provide certification that the proposed "Alcan
Planer Ceiling" meets the qualifications for
a one -hour rated ceiling. If not, sprinkler
protection will also be required above the ceiling..
. All interior wall covering materials shall be
fire- resistive or shall be treated to be fire -
resistive, so as to result in a Flame- Spread
Rating of at least Class III (Class II for
Exit - ways), A certificate of Flame - Spread Rating
is required to be delivered to the Fire Department'..
