RE: Plan Check Building Permit for
Koll Andover III
Dear Al:
Per receipt of our building permit for this project, the comments by the
Fire Marshal did not note requirements for a hose cabinet in the mezza-
nine office and were subsequently not installed. The letter from the
Fire Marshal attached to the drawings is enclosed and dated May 26, 1978.
It appears we are being held up for occupancy for these buildings due to
a second letter issued by the Fire Marshal in September which we nor the
Koll Company never received. This letter required hose cabinets in the
mezzanine areas.
At this time, it becomes difficult and costly to comply with an item we
were not aware of through our plan check. We have existing mezzanines
in Koll Andover Business Center without hose cabinets and some with.. We
would appreciate a meeting with you and Jim Hoel to review this matter
for an ultimate solution.

In reviewing the above mentioned project. plans, please note
the following items:
1. Per UFC Sec. 10.104(b), "All doors in or lead-
ing to exits shall be maintained openable from
the inside without the use of a key or any
• special knowledge or effort at all times when
the building or area served thereby is occupied."
2. Per UFC Sec. 10.113, "At every required exit
doorway, and wherever otherwise required to
clearly indicate the direction of egress, an exit
sign with letters at least 6 inches high and '

Dear Ken,
The City of Tukwila Building Department has reviewed our plans for Koll:
Andover, Phase III. Following iS.a list of comments they made in their review:
1. Provide Soils Engineer for footings inspection.
2. Any frame walls: use pressure treated plates or cedar or redwood. •
3. Special inspection required for concrete steel /UBC 305A. Footings,
foundations and panels.
4. Any roof drains or down spouts enclosed shall be of approved metal.
5. Fire block frame walls at ceiling height.
6. Provide shop drawings for glue -lam. beams,
7. Any glass doors or window panels within 18 inches of walking surface
and in impact area shall be safety or tempered glass.
8. Underside of stairs and landings shall be protected by 5/8 inch
G.W.B. type "X ".
9. Provide grab bars for handicapped in toilet rooms ground floors,
each building UBC /1711.
Also, a review by the Fire Marshall was made with the following comments:
