Through the use of a domestic satellite system, this terminal will communicate with other stations . to be located in Los Angeles, Portland, and Tempe, Arizona. These terminals comprise a 24 hour communications network that interconnect the computer facilities of the Western Bank Corporation and will be utilized to update the bank's daily transactions, The earth station consists of a fenced enclosure containing a small electronics shelter and a parabolic antenna (5.meter diameter). The shelter is 6' x 8' x 8' high, It is of.prefab construction with a white fiberglass exterior. The antenna is a parabolic dish type capable of .both transmission and reception. The antenna is constructed of aluminum and painted a non - reflective white. The antenna utilizes a surface mounted foundation structure that is fabricated of galvanized I beams. In order to minimize the technical complexity of the data circuit, reduce costs, and maintain security, each terminal will be colocated with the bank's computer facilities. At Tukwila the station will be positioned on a paved area south of Western Bancorp-'s Data Processing Building. This area is accessed from South 180th via Sperry Street. • The specific location was chosen to minimize visual impact, reduce the possible obstruction for traffic and parking in the paved area, and still provide a clear line of site path to the communications satellite which is positioned in a synchronous orbit over the United States. (The satellite remains in a fixed position relative to any ground location).
