In reviewing the above mentioned project plans, please note the
following items:
1. Fire - retardant roof covering required in Fire
Zone 2.
2. Per UFC Sec. 10.104(b), "All doors in or leading
to exits shall be maintained openable from the
inside without the use of a key or any special
knowledge or effort at all times when the build-
ing or area served thereby is occupied."
3. Per UFC Sec. 10.113, "At every required exit
doorway, and wherever otherwise required to clearly
indicate the direction of egress, an exit sign with
letters at least 6 inches high and readily disting-
uishable shall be maintained."
4. Walls to be fire stopped per UBC Sec. 2517(f).
5. Per UBC Section 3205(b), "Enclosed attic spaces formed
of combustible construction shall be divided into
horizontal areas not exceeding 3000 square feet by .
partitions extending from the ceiling to the roof."
6. Hose stations are required per City Ordinance #730.
7. Fire extinguishers shall be provided per NFPA #10,
as a minimum requirement.
Install one 211 gallon pressurized water unit and one
2A 10 B:C "All- Purpose" dry chemical unit.
8. Per NFPA requirements, extinguishers with a gross
weight of 40 pounds or less shall be hung so that
the top of the extinguisher is not higher than 60
inches above the floor. Extinguishers weighing more
than 40 pounds, shall be hung so that the top of the
unit is not higher than 42 inches above the floor.

Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in plain
view (if at all possible). If not in plain view,
they shall be identified with a sign stating, "FIRE
EXTINGUISHER" with an arrow pointing.
9 An approved, supervised smoke-detection system is
required per City Ordinance #1061. An approved .
automatic sprinkler system may be installed in
lieu of a smoke detection system.

Dear Mr. Vander:
This is to confirm our telephone conversation today regarding the conflict with
the south footing of the Puget Sound Mutual Bank building in. Tukwila... Based
upon test holes dug by the general contractor and by field review and investi-
gations by this office, it is concluded that the City's 8" water main is not as
shown on your plot plan; it is approximately 44 feet north of the centerline of
Strander Blvd. and is approximately 2 feet 6 inches south of the centerline of
the south wall of the building.
This investigation presents two problems. First, the water line as built is too
close to the proposed sewer to the bank (less than 10 feet required). Second,
and more important, the close proximity of the water main to the bank footing and
and south foundation wall represent a high risk liability if the water main should
ever rupture. The solution to the first problem is to move the sewer. The solu-
tion to the second is to relocate the building or the water main.
Please submit your plans and recommendation for solution to these problems as soon
as possible. If you choose to relocate the water main, it must be done to City of
Tukwila standards and be approved and coordinated with our engineering and main-
tenance departments. Please direct your questions, plans or requests for information
to Mr. Abdel Eltayeb, Office Engineer, at 433 -1856.
