Just before 1pm today, a maid, employed by America’s Best Value Inn, in the 14800
block of Interurban Ave South, found chemicals in a room. The maid left the room and
notified management. They called 911. Tukwila Police and Fire Department responded
because of the report of chemicals.
Tukwila Police confirmed the presence of chemicals, and rendered the room safe for
Hazardous Material Technicians from the fire department to enter the room. Three
buildings were evacuated.
Evidence collected confirmed this was a drug lab. Tukwila Police Officers were able to
take the occupant of the room in custody without resistance.
No one was injured. The maid was checked by medical teams on scene and went to a
local hospital for precaution.
We had Mutual Aid from the City of SeaTac, Burien, North Highline, Kent, King County
Fire District 20, Zone 3 Fire Explorers, and South King County Paramedics.
The first 911 call came in at 12:59 pm.
All chemicals have been secured and pose no risk to citizens in the area. Tukwila Police
will be on scene for much of the evening working with the Drug Enforcement Agency to
process the scene.
