HomeMy WebLinkAbout1909-08-31 Special Minutes Tukwila, Washington, August 31st 1909. A Special Meeting of the Council was held in their Chambers on the above date. Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at the hour of 9:55 P,M, There were present: Joel Shomaker, Mayor, J. M. Hall, JeVV Wilson, Jno. G.Hopkins and F,w, Johansen, Councilmen. The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of discussing the light and water sines; ion, Previous to the calling to order of this meeting a mass meeting had been held for the same p.urpose and after a general dis- cussion of the subject, and after various suggestions as to the best. methods to pursue in obtaining a sufficient supply of water for the Town, and the manner in which money for the purpose might be obtained, etc. etc,, it was unanimously decided that the sense of the meeting was, that the whole matter be referred to a committee of the Town Council, but the sentiment of the meeting wau decidedly in favor of obtaining a water and light system. The Council as a whole, acting under the above suggestion, empowered the coni'lZittee on light and water to employ a vompetent engineer to inves aiLQ-te and report as to thebest mathod of procuring water; whether water can be gotten within the Tour of Tukwila in sufficient quantity to furnish everybody, and the apl roxizate cost of installing and maintenance, using such an amount of money as in their judgment is necessary to prosecute a diligent, intelligent and satisfactory investigation of the water question in all its details, so far as it applies to the Town of Tukwila and the best interests of its citizens. Mr. Rogers was present and asked for a continuation of Bluff street, so as to connect it with the MacAdam road. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Alleys with power -to act, There being no further business to come before the Council, meeting was adj ourned at the hour of 10:00 P,M. E. F.
