SPONSOR'S The contract with Brike Excavating Underground Utilities, LLC, is complete for the
SUMMARY South 129 St Drainage Project. Construction began January 7, 2008 and was completed
on January 22, 2008. The contract included a new drainage system to allow for the
removal of a swale on private property. One change order was issued for additional
asphalt. This project is ready for final acceptance and the total contract amount was
$40,286.03.

Project Completion and Acceptance
ISSUE
Accept construction contract as complete and authorize release of retainage.
BACKGROUND
The Notice to Proceed for Contract No. 07 -162 with Brike Excavating Underground
Utilities, LLC, of Renton, was issued January 7, 2008. This project provided a new
drainage system to allow for the removal of a swale from private property. The new
system carries the drainage across S. 129 Street to an infiltration system within the
Codiga Farms site, adjacent to the roadway. No piped drainage outfalls to the river exist
in the area, so infiltration was the only available option to dispose of the roadway runoff.
This contract was totally complete on January 22, 2008. Change Order No 1 was issued in
the amount of $2,588.12 as compensation for additional asphalt concrete pavement thickness
of 14 contrary to the expected 6" depth portrayed in the contract plans.

RECOIVIlVIENDATION
It is recommended that this contract be forwarded to the Tukwila City Council on the
consent agenda for formal acceptance and authorize the release of retainage, subject to the

C. Southcenter Boulevard Water Main Project Completion and Acceptance
Staff is requesting full Council approval for foiuial contract acceptance and release of retamage to
R. L. Alia Company for the Southcenter Boulevard Water Main project.
The project ran over budget (see Utilities Committee minutes dated February 4, 2008). Additional
funding will be taken from the ending Water Fund balance. The Water Fund balance will expenence a
cost saving of approximately $110,000 as a result of an mterlocal agreement with King County Metro m
the Interurban Water Reuse project discussed above. 'UNANIMOUS APPROVAL. FORWARD TO
APRIL 21 CONSENT AGENDA.
D. South 129 Street Dramaee Protect Completion and Acceptance
Staff is requesting full Council approval for formal contract acceptance and release of retamage to
y Brike Excavating Underground Utilities for the South 129 Street Drainage project.
The project consisted of removal of a drainage swale from private property located near the Codiga
Farms site. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL. FORWARD TO APRIL 21 CONSENT AGENDA.
III. MISCELLANEOUS
Staff reported that the Public Works Depai talent will be audited by Washington Cities Insurance
Authority this year. Jim Morrow would like to report out to the Committee after the audit is complete.
This past weekend, two separate water mains broke, both on private property. The City supplied parts
and labor for repair and will invoice accordingly.
