Neighbors complained of the sight and smells. Foreclosure property. From first complaint until clean up completed took three months (relatively quick!) City hired private contractor at a total cost of $1833.26. Owner paid in full within two weeks. Abatement Process • Process is complicated • Requires heavy use of staff time • Numbers are growing faster than Code Enforcement can work them Abatement completed by Owner • Reported to Code Enforcement by PD • Bank owned vacant nuisance building and premises • Unsecured • Vandalized interior • Severe overgrowth • Accumulation of debris • Stolen vehicles discovered on property 4044 S. 152nd Street Cleanup started July 8, 2013 Hearing held July 9, 2013 Buildings have been secured, debris and overgrowth removed After Fire damaged structure, dangerous building, weeds and debris. • Improvement Hearing May 21, 2013 • Determination and Order issued May 30, 2013 • No appeal filed • Owner (bank) finally contacted City July 1, 2013 • Bank missed August deadline for compliance Partial Abatement Completed City hired contractors to abate the exterior nuisance conditions. Currently seeking Court Order of Abatement to demolish the fire - damaged structure. Liens for the costs will be filed against the property.
