HomeMy WebLinkAbout1911-09-12 Regular MinutesTukwila, Washington September 12, 1911 Regular Meeting held at Lutz Hall on the above date. meeting called to order by the Mayor at the hour of 8:15 PM. Present: Engel Mayor Gunthert Kline Wold Millr Councilmembers The minutes of previous meeting was read by the Clerk and except the following omittance found correct. In the reelections of Mayor Engel a motion for Mr. Engel to reconsider his resignation was introduced and carried by the house. This was left out and is hereby corrected. Report of Committees Mr. Miller reported on Tax and Expense Levy for the coming year. The report is based on last years assessed valuation, this year's assessment was work yet out from the boards of equalization. A Special Meeting will be held Monday second to finally fix levy for the Town of Tukwila for next year. Mr. Wold reported he had purchased a load of planks for repair work on sidewalks and streets. He also reported that the work laid out in the bottom had been done. Mr. Kline reported that the work on Engle Hill was well under progress. Bills and Correspondence The following Bills were presented for payment: Pinkers $93.00 Myers $79.75 Pierce $13.20 Blandy $60.00 $53.25 John Green $30.00 Mcdonald $53.70 John Johnson $27.15 Wiederman $55.00 Fuller $3.00 $12.00 Chas Minster $18.00 H.M. Myers $16.80 Green $1.00 Jonas Olson $225.00 Stein $2.88 Caroline Lutz $4.00 C.P. Jensen $5.00 Total $754.63 These Bills were examined and approved by the Auditing Committee, warrants being ordered drawn in their payment. A Bill from coe, Masten and Parker was laid over until next meeting. A correspondence with Bill attached from McIntyre was referred to Street Committee to report on later. An ordinance creating the Office of Street Supervisor with salary of $2.75 per day passed its second reading. Several correspondence from various state offices were read and referred to clerk for answering. Unfinished Business The amtter of drainage was finally settled. The Puget Sound Electric Company had agreed to letting the water from Marin Street into their ditch alongside of tracks. The company also agreed to put in a culvert. New Business The matter of filling the ditch in Reitz Avenue and in connection with that the elevating of the trough and filling in dirt on Marin Street was discussed at some length. Mr. Gunthert finally amde a motion to appropriate $150.00 for that work. The motion carried. The dirt to be gotten from the Hill right above the work. Mr. Miller asked for an appropriation of $50.00 for Clarence Avenue between Marin and Riverside and made a motion to that effect. The motion was carried. The Street Foreman was authorized to look after and repair sidewalks crossings when needed. Mr. Miller asked for information about Financial standing of Town. The Treasurer was present and stated that up to date, we had about $1,600 in bank. The need of a Marshall was felt and discussed by the Council. A vote of a salary of $60.00 per year was taken and carried. Mr. fred Callenius was there appointed by the Mayor to the office of Town Marshall. The appointment was approved by the Council. An ordinance to that effect will be drawn and presented at next meeting. Mr. Kline asked for sidewalk on new grade on Tukwila Avenue. Mr. Gunthert made a motion to lay back the old walk and if more was needed to take from Town's . The motion was carried. A deed from J. Olson to Town of Tukwila for of Lot 15 Block 17 was handed in by Mr. Wold. The deed is now on file in Clerk's Office. A question to buy a street plow was laid on table until later.
